single flare vs double flare????s

Im finally trying to install my line lock kit and came across the instructions to "make sure you double flare the brake line". What exactly is the difference between a single flare and a double flare. As I look at my Hurst installation kit and the Ford front brake line, they look the same, or are they already double flared? Thanks for any info.

a single flare is like the end of a trumpet, and a double flare is looks like a mushroom, I think...

a single is like a gas line in a home (e.g. for the dryer) just flared out, double flaring will flare out then bend back onto it self, auto parts stores will rent this tool out i did it on my mustang, all brake lines should be double flared....

Thanks for the replies, good analogies, now I know that the lines I have are double flared, and I guess Ill add another tool to the collection unless the autoparts store has one for rent.
