MAFterburner

Just read the article in the new MM&FF about the MAFterburner. I thought I remembered seeing this product mentioned on the board not too long ago. Didn't come up with anything in the search. Here is a link.

Isn't this the tool we've been looking for? The ability to tune the fuel curve and timing on your own. Works with or without a chip. The box connects to your ECM and then you adjust the software with a laptop. In my case I have a single program chip with a safe tune. I have not dynoed the truck with it yet. When I did dyno though wouldn't I able to fine tune it myself without sending back for a reburn? Just a thought. Anybody bought one of these yet?
Thanks, Jeff

Kingpin,
this tool does not allow you to adjust timing. It works by chaning the voltage of the MAF sensor prior to the ECU. based on this adjustment the ECU can add or take away fuel.

Lying to the ECU is BAD.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for the reply guys. Have either of you two used this version and did you get a chance to check out the article? You are right, the unit being sold does not let you adjust timing. The wording is kind of confusing. It says there is a new one in the works and that one will let you adjust fuel along with timing.

This looks to be simular to the MAF-T (translater) used with GREAT success on GM LS-1 and LS-6 engines. Lot's of people using them to tune their A/F ratio. Some aftermarket pieces change your A/F, this allows you to retune it for satety and power.
