Racing Insurance?

I had no luck with a search so,
Will auto insurance cover an accident at a drag strip? I assume not so is there insurance you can buy specifically for the track? And what is the drivers liability if they take out the car next to them?
Thanks

Next time you go to the track and not in a hurry and the people in back of you have not threaten you with your life while you read line for line the paper you sign when you enter the gate on the pit side. That should answer your question from a liability stand point.

No, your personal insurance will not cover you at the track.

I took a road racing class in my personal vehicle many years ago. The paperwork clearly stated that your insurance would not cover you if you lost it on the track. However, the instructor stated that for $50.00, they would tow your car off the track property to a local road and stuff it into any available ditch or tree. What you did after that was your business. Fortunately, I did not have to utilize their services.

Mainly depends on your insurer, and the relationship you have with your agent.

Also, a lot of insurance will cover driving instruction, which a lot of road-race days claim to be

Most Likely you would be covered for the one incident..Then you would be cancelled..And you would probably be hosed for years on decent priced insurance.

YOu need to dig deep into that heap they sent you when you signed up with 1800 sections on how it works.(i.e. SEE POLICY)

This is coming from an Agent..Myself..
Good luck!!!

I am a insurance broker and I know of no insurance company that will insure a race car or personal car used on a race track. The company would flat out deny the claim and may cancel the policy. Most policies specifically exclude racing. This depends on your story and location of the car when it was picked up.

You know what doesn't make sense. I was covered on a street racing accident back in the day......but I wouldn't be covered at the track, where it's legal. I know theres a lot more to it than that but just making a point.

Thanks guys..
I have state farm. It is pretty ballsy to risk 30G's on one race. I would hate to be stuck paying off my totaled truck for the next 5 years.
