03 Cobra

Just got home from test driving a used 03 cobra. This one was a POS it felt like it was beat to hell in the short 1500 mi. it had on it. It's hard to explain but i just didn't like it at all. The shifter was an aftermarket short throw which was ok, the power driver seat didn't work and the gas pedal was busted off(so I had to drive it with the bar underneath the pedal). but the rest was stock and the outside was perfect except some road dust and grim. I hate to knock a Ford but this one is an exception. I just cant believe they are trying to sell this car for $34,900 they said they would work with me but forget that so i'll just staywith my L. Well just had to vent and see what you guys think of this situation.

If you are really serious about a Cobra, I'm sure their is one out there for your satisfaction. I wouldn't label the whole batch as bad because of this one car. It could have been the turkey in the batch. I know of several people, including ex Lightning owners on this board that say these cars are the real thing and do some serious butt kicking. Good luck if you decide to look further and find one of the true american sports car.

You are probably right about the driven hard thing. I was called to our dyno dpt. to inspect an 03 dealer return. It had a burnt piston and the dealer asured us that the car belonged to a doctor and he was a good customer. I took a look at it and you could tell that both the upper and lower pulley's were changed. This guy forgot that the old pulleys he put back on had no wear on them. Heck the paint wasn't even scuffed.
This Cobra only had 3k on it it looked like this guy bought it straped on the pulley's and what ever else.

There was a guy who bought an L an blew a plug in 39 miles.
So should we not buy Ls.

You cannot judge a car by that one ride in one car. It is more the owner. It could have been a real A-Hole who owned it and beat the Chit out of it.

When I was shopping for a used vette it took me 9 tries to find one not beat up.
I had that car for 2 years with no problems.

If its slower than a squerril on molassis in november (or somthing) check the cats. Those things really lose bigtime power if the cats are bad which many had been prone to.

My friend had bad cats and it was neck and neck with me (I am door handle to door handle with LS1 Corvettes). We took them off and he proceeded to put 10 or so carlengths on me. Theres a vid around here somewhere...

Look on ebay for wrecked ones. I almost got one with front end damage, but I was short a few $$! It went for $18k. (banks don't lend out to salvaged cars).

Basically, it's a POS because of a broken gas pedal and malfunctioning power seat (both warranty covered)? Am I missing something?
