How durable is MTX thunderform for Lightning?

I'm considering the thunderform because of the factory like appearance, but how strong is the plastic. I'm looking at a JL 300X4 amp powering either a pair of 10W0's or 10W3's. Not sure if the 10W3's will fit though.

Will the bass hitting cause the thunderform to crack or disfigure?

Are you guys that have them still happy with them?

Thanks

a lot of folks run it and i dont see a problem with it cracking. first off, you're not gonna be pushing that much air in it with the limited amount of space...maybe 2 JL w3s or something...

i have heard that the quality is a bit flimsy but i doubt it will disfigure or crack easily...

the only reason it sounds weird are those damn mtx6000's are sloppy hitting. the enclosure is a nice enclosure, it's not plastic at all, it very heavy and durable, i was surprised when i received mine in the mail, it's kinda like a really hard Rubber.

It is very heavy duty. You will have no problems handling the JLs. Like Cobra97snake says "Its the 6000s that suck, not the case"

I love my thunderform, the box itself seems very rigid, not thin plastic so you can't squeeze it or anything. The molded shape is great looking, probably could have had a better finish, but then it probably would have cost more, and besides you don't see it back there anyway. The 6000's it comes with aren't that bad but two 10w3's will probably sound better, and unless you put 10w6's in it, which I don't think will fit anyway, I wouldn't think you are going to make enough bass to crack the box, probably blow the speakers first.

Later,
Bill

I bought mine unloaded and have been running a couple of 800W max Premiere TS-W1041DVC subs in it for over a year. I've never had a problem with it and the bass is very strong. No rattles, cracks, or anything like that. I've had a couple people (who don't know anything about the trucks) ask if it was part of the truck - it fits that well.

I have heard Todds setup, he has MEGA bass coming out and the thunderform is handling it GREAT!

Looks loke I'll be ordering the UNLOADED box. I heard the 6000's in a local stereo shop and wasn't too crazy about them.

Is anyone running JL Audio's 10W3's? Just wondering if they will fit OK.

Thanks again.

I can't tell you if the JL's will fit perfectly, but the baskets on my Pioneers where just a hair too big for the opening on the Thunderform, so I had to dremel the outer lip of the hole just slightly. There's plenty of material there if you need to do this, don't sweat it.
