Thumbs up New Question

Thanks soap!!!

According the fordpartsonline.com, the fan does list for $232.25 (as soap mentioned), but fordpartsonline.com sells them for $137.96! Not a bad deal for an OEM quailty fan.

Soap, I'm thinking about adding this to a car project I'm working on - not my Lightning. Do you happen to know any of the fan's external dimesions? Like, how thick from motor face to shroud face? 5 inches?? How about the outer diameter after the mounting structure was removed? 22 inches???

Thanks again!!!

After trimming the excess plastic for mounting to a 4.6L the OD of the fan was 19". Blade size is 18". The thickness of mounting surface (where you can attach a bracket) is 3". I am not sure of the total thickness (including motor) of the fan but would say your 5" guess is about right.

Let me know if you need anything else.

soap,

AWESOME! For people like me who rather do their own work to their truck, to know that they put all the hard work into making it fast, this is an awesome write-up. Not only am I gonna save money, but I can easily build my own setup. Thanks a lot!

We spent about $15 at Home Depot for hardware and $35 at Autozone for wiring (fuses/fuse blocks/relays/wire/connectors/switches). The entire job took an afternoon including shopping and only ran his $155 for everything.

Hope this helps some of you guys that did not know how to get from point A to point B.

I'm thinking of doing this but have no idea of what kind of wiring and so on I need. Can you list out the wiring and fuses, etc..... needed for this project. And also does it just run all the time or does it kick on at a certain temp. If you could just explain the wiring side to me a little better I would very much appreciate it.

couple questions. why the heck doenst ford just use electric fans from the get go. I mean milage is important obviuosly for their vehicles. This seems pretty cheap to me. Also how much hp gain do you guys in the L's pull from this mod? For the regular f150 4.6 i hear 18 but i imagine it has to be quite a bit higher for you guys at the top end.

18 ***** I need to get a 4.6L. It frees up like 5-10rwhp on an L.
