solved the plug launching, rod dropping problem
Well, I solved the plug launching, and rod dropping, and anything else that can go wrong ... and not have Ford honour the warranty problem....
I bought this:
\
From one "L" to another kind of "L".
Understandably it a completely different kind of vehicle. But it makes one heck of a nicer daily driver. I decided not to wait around for disaster to strike.
I'm gonna wait until the Gen III's come out and see if their build quality is better.
In the meantime I hope you all wont mind me hangin' around here and contributing. I will always be an "L" owner at heart even if I won't have one for the next three years.

Great lookin car bud. See you got the NAVI....good move...can you post the specs on the car, model, etc?.....My wife has a Benz and wants a newer one, but I'm tryin to talk her into trying the Lexus...so far no luck...Are you happy with yours?

Prior to my two Lightnings, I had one of the first LS400. I had that car from 1990 to 2000, and nothing ever went wrong. Absolutely the best car I have ever had and in my opinion Lexus builds the best cars money can buy (As far as the LS430 goes).
They are indestructible, built with a fanatical attention to detail, and are bulletproof.... plus the service is second to none.
For a complete rundown, go here:
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2003/lexu...able..1.Lexus*
On the left side of the page you can click on specs, editors review, etc.
I got the Navigation System/Mark Levinson Audio Package. I must say, I have had custom stereo installs on other vehicles I have owned, but the Mark Levinson system in the Lexus is one of the best systems I have heard.
My friend has an S Class Mercedes, and quite frankly I'm not impressed, especially considering the money it costs.
With regard to the HP on the LS430, don't let that 290 fool you. It's plenty powerful, especially with the variable valve timing...plus it is the smoothest and quietest ride there is.
I highly recommend checking an LS430 out.

nice car, my grandma has one, its white. No loyalty to the "L".....replacing an "L" with a ..old folks luxo cruiser???
.., why not keep the truck for fun and also own the 430 ??
I have a Lexus now also and I have had many LS's and SC's....I bought my lightning to have fun with and I was well aware of the problems it might have.....Take the good with the possible bad(dont mean to stir up you plug spitters and hole makers)...

Yeah, I got this one because it was the only way I could get your Grandma to ride with me.
But seriously folks...
"old folks luxo cruiser"? You said you have had LSs before. Are you an "Old Folk"?
I got it because I've had two "L"s already and I wanted to go back to something nice. I'm hardly "old", in fact I had my first LS when I was 31. I just happen to appreciate "the finer things in life".
I'll have another Lightning when they stop blowing up. Why should I hold onto my 2002 when every time I drove I would wonder if that was the time the plugs would achieve escape velocity. I love the looks of the concept 2004. If the build quality is good then I'll get it. When I do I'll still be driving this old folks car that will not have had a single problem with it, and it certainly will not have launched plugs. And... I'll be VERY comfortable going from point A to B in the meantime.

Is that a for sure date? I thought that the date could change depending on Fords engineer changing this or that.
Rocks
Say Kobiashi
I dont blame you a bit. I am 46 and would love to have a 430. but I am willing to take my chances in the Ford L. I dont worry about launching a plug or whatever,, I think its been overblown as to how often it really happens. I plan on keeping mine stock, meaning no chip and pulley, but have done the PSP air and Accufab TB. just to optimize its stock status... but I could live with what you have as well,,, Good Luck Brother

Very nice Choice...
This is a picture of my Lexus at a local SCMC event at my local track, my truck was in the shop with a broken driveshaft, so I used my Lexus(aka Ford) car because I had already paid the registration money and couldn't get it back...
