2400 watts on the way!

Well I got the system all installed and the rockford is ok for now with only 4 of the subs hooked up, but its still cutting out way to early for me. So I'm droping the 1500 watter and getting a 2400 watter that can handle the 1.3 ohm load with ease too!

I'll tell you what guys, with the windows up its pretty sweet and it hits your back so hard you would swear there's a miget behind the seat kicking you like mini me , but when I put the windows down good god it gets deep and crazy loud!!!! and I'm barely pushing those subs too!!!!

I can't wait to get this done now, pics coming soon!

Sounds like someone is due for a 200A alternator.

I think you should be worried about the vibrations loosing all your interior, ANd most importantly your spark plugs might come loose!

The problem is, to much speaker and not enough air space to allow the soundwaves to create the maximum sound. That's one of the biggest obstacles when dealing with the inside of a truck. You might find you would have a better system(and louder) with only 3 of the subs hooked up and cleaner power. You had mentioned before in one of your posts that you were looking for more sound quality than spl. Running a 1.3 ohm load will typically introduce more noise and cause your electrical system to work harder. Just my opinion, but for sound quality you would be better off staying between 3 and 4 ohms. A JL Audio 1000/1 with 3 subs would be a pretty killer setup, get plenty loud and also create an easier load on the amp and your electrical system.

Well I got two optima red top batteries, two 1 farad caps, and all 4 gauge wire for the amps and 2 gauge for batteries. I tested the elctrical system and with the system cranked up I was getting 14.4 volts with no drops or anything, its got the juice to handle it. Out trucks come with 130 amp alternators so its pretty good about that.

Navi man,

Well the thing is that I really don't crank it that crazy loud all the time unless I was to just rock hard and when I do that its always with the windows down. Trucks just arn't as forgiving as the big suv's are you know. Yeah I'm looking for more SQ then SPL, but I'm saying it that was mainly cause I really don't care for ported boxes and those are more based on SPL then a sealed is for SQ you know. One of these days when I get old and the bass gets to be to much for me, I'll make my systems setup for SQ only you know, but for now I want to rattle my a$$.

None of these things are adequate for the amount of power you will be looking at. The 2500w Class D amp alone can pull around 225 amps of power. This is WAY more than the stock alternator can put out (also remember that the stock alt puts out much less power at idle). That number doesn't include any other electrical accessories or an additional 2 or 4 channel amp to run your other speakers.

Here is an example of your power wire situation with some rough numbers. If you are using a single 4awg run into the sub amp and it is 6ft long you can expect to lose .34 volts to the wire. That power ends up as heat in the wire. Since you won't be running the amp full tilt all day long it isn't a safety concern. The real problem is that your amp losses .34v it could have turned into useful watts. A 0awg run in the same situation losses only .14v.

Your battery situation is fine as long as you don't plan on throwing any parking lot concerts. The red tops won't last long with the amount of power you are running. They are also not deep cycle so if you drain them a handful of times they will lose their charge. The stock alternator also comes into play here since you can pull around 2x-3x what the alternator can put out. That power comes from the batteries and is a lower voltage. You may find your lights dimming a good deal and occasional dead batteries.

A ported enclosure can not only be louder but it can also extend to much lower frequencies. The myth that sealed is for 'SQ' is just that; myth.

Ok, i'm done. Off to Vegas for some NASCAR.

Not!!!!!!! I gut my system when I go racing hardcore brother! HAHAHAHA.

As far as the system goes, we'll see about it when I get there but I don't expect any problems with it since I'm more then fine with voltage now. only time will tell and if it does, oh well I'll just get a new alternator for it and then through some yellow tops in the back insted. Time to take the batteries out, HAHAHAHHA. I hate taking the bed off! maybe I can rig it up different somehow???
