What you need to do now is get the pulley (This thang)

off the shaft so that it looks something like this ...
(Before I sliced it up)

When that is sticking out of the front of the harmonic balancer
you can maybe get a pipe wrench (BIG ONE) on it and unscrew
it.

If you can't get that to work, you can use a sawzall to cut it
flush, then drill out the center to get to the inner Harmonic
balancer bolt. Then that will come off and you can whack at
it outside the truck.

Good luck ... it took us two days and lots of lost skin ... but
we're good at it now ...

Ummm ... it IS left handed thread BTW.

Cliff

PS.... the above images are to assist in visualization only and are
not in anyway a slam of the engineering abilities of any vendors.

A 24" pipe wrench is what I used with good results on 2 different L's. Put the wrench on the pulley hub and it will unscrew off of the spindle. It has loctite on those threads. Once it is off then put the 24" on the spindle stub and be prepared to use both feet on the handle of the pipe wrench to break the spindle loose.. Good luck...

Good question 69stang!
I have seen more than a couple posting of these bolts rounding off and I still dont understand whats happening. I have JDM'S
interchangeable pulley hub and have changed once from a 2 to 4
lb pulley with no problem.

Try a turbo socket! you can purchace from any tool truck (snap on,
matco, mac or even craftsman) they really work on stripped bolt heads! If you have air tools try pulling fan, shroud and rad. then just let the impact do the work! if not you have to get out the breaker bar and cheater bar and doit manually! I use turbo sockets quite often at work!and swear by them! Not to say they work every time (its happened acouple of times) but they are a great tool for just that problem! Hope this helps!

What year is your truck ? 99 or 2000 has 3 bolts that hold the flange that the pulley screws into .. You can pull the interchangeable ring off then use a wrench to get the flange bolts off. The flange is cheap ( relatively )

Good Luck

ANTISIEZE ....

It is reverse threaded so those wouldn't work. -Mat-

alright i'll try that.

i have a super big pipe wrench that i was trying to use on the nub. i'll try on the pulley hub.

hopefully it won't eat it up, since i just sold it, i'd feel bad if it looked like crap.

mine is a 2001 so i can't unscrew it.

i'll just have to use the pipe wrench on that too
