For those who have NITTOS

Whats goin on guys (and girls)?

Im getting some new tires for the L, and ive decided to go with some Nitto 555s in the front, and the 555Rs in the rear...

Now for those of you who have this setup, give me some input!! What pressure level for normal street/highway driving, what pressure for racin? How do they handle? What RPM should i launch at to get the best 60 ft??? Anything else i should know about?

thanks for all the help guys! Ill post again if i have any more questions...

I run mine at 32PSI on the street and between 16-18 psi at the track depending on the bite. Our tracks just suck nads out here, so our 60's arent even as close to people on the East coast. Ive heard people cutting 1.7-1.8 60's on them.

They still spin however on the 1-2 shift on the street with my FT VB.. heh

And you still want a new blower

I'm planning on getting that tire setup when the F-1's give up the ghost. So this is some good info for me.

On the street on run them at 32PSI. They don't get any traction on the street unless it is above 70*. On the track I run them at 22PSI. With good track prep I can hit 1.7X's 60FTs all day. I can't leave with much a whole lot of RPM though otherwise I will go up in smoke. A decent size burnout works best for me. Goodluck with your new tires! -Mat-

I still have F1's on the front but I have the 555R's on the back. They are fine in the rain on a daily driver. I run them ~30psi on the street. At the track I run them ~20psi and with a nice burnout can cut 1.7 - 1.8 60's.

Well ,I dont have a Ligthning but I did have nitto 555r's on the rear of my Trans Am. They hooked pretty good on streets and I ran them at 30-32psi ,but watch out for water. As for handling ,in my opinion they werent that good since the tires are too soft, that is why I switched over to 285 Nitto 555's. But for all the torque that an L pushes ,I think the drag radials will be perfect.

i cut low 1.7's on them pretty consistently, they were perfectly good tires for the street,

i just ordered a set of 275/60/15's for my lil ranger,

the nitto's work as good if not better than any street tire i've ever used

Got the Nitto DR as well and LOVE THEM !! I run mine at 18 on the street with a lil burn out they are ready to go. Went a 1.79 on them last yr only got to use them once at the track so this yr they will get abused Looking to go 1.6 ATLEAST with them. They are a good tire, i got tired of swapping wheels all the time F'1s to the track (45min drive) then ET streets so sold the ET and Got a set of Nittos and couldnt be more happier
