Chip and service

I'm going to take my L in to have a O2 sensor replaced tomorrow and I have a chip installed. The Q is do I need to disconnect the battery to pull the chip? The dealer I take it to knows I have a chip in it or should I just leave the chip installed? either way it's going to get fixed.

If the dealer knows you have a chip and doesn`t care, then leave it in.

I guess I should have made it a little more clear. If they use a computer to diag. will the chip give false readings?
