The importance of a breather cap
Wouldn't it be nice if you could spray some kind of cleaner in there while its running and flush all that stuff out the drain in the bottom?
There is a vacum port on the drivers side of the upper intake manifold plate that is above the cooler core and below the SC... . I bet the Cats would love that mess.
I wonder if the guys that spray NOS get a cleaning effect from it. Nothing like a 50 HP shot of cleaner now and then to keep things running smooth.
When I ordered my replacement intercooler I had to get it as one unit already attached to the plate. It was siliconed and bolted in real nice. I am surprised to see you guys sepearate them.
There are some differences in the old and new cooler. The new one is a inch deeper and looks a little better made.
I have a old mechanical water temperature gauge I am going to strap it to the outlet pipe of the cooler, next to the SC and record some temps now that it is new and clean. I will also include the outside air temps so I have a fare comparison. Maybe I can establish a baseline so I know if and when cleaning is necessary.
That might be a fun temp to monitor all the time on a A piller pod.

I don't have a step by step picture book. Those are the only pics he took.
I can describe what he did.
1. Disconnect Battery
2. Drain Intercooler by opening drain valve on IC radiator
3. Remove Air Filter and Rubber boot to Throttle body.
4. Remove PCV tubes going from Intake to rubber boot as well as anyhting conncted to Intake/TB
5. After all the IC fluid is drained disconnct the hoses that go to Intercooler. The ones on the Passenger side that go to IC resivoir.
6. Take off Supercharger belt. You do not have to remove it, just get it off of Supercharger.
7. Remove Supercharger Bolts that connect to Midplate. I believe the Passenger side Rear bolt you must leave in to pull out the SC.
8. After that you should see the Intercooler. Disconnect the boost tube located on drivers side of the intake.
9. Remove bolts (13mm) for Intercooler and lift IC up.
10. after Intercooler is out, turn it over and remove the 8-7mm bolts that attach the IC to the midplate.
11. Clean, clean, clean with Brake cleaner. We used 4-5 cans. If you have a solvent tank with fairly clean solvent that works well for most of it. If you have an aircompresser to blow out the crap it works well to after the brake cleaner is applied.
12. Now go and clean out the intake area on the truck with Tb cleaner. I don't think brake cleaner is a good idea in this area s you will be spraying it around the intake runners. If you can, blow air through the PCV and put a rag inside the intake so you don't get sprayed with OIL.
I don't know where to get the carbon coated rotors. Rob had a blower with them already in it for a project he was going to do. But he decided not doing it. I didn't ask where, but I am sure if you call your local Ford dealer they may be able to help you or someone on the boards.
Taking the rotors out is pretty simple, just remove the bolts on the front of the blower anb tap off the face plate using a rubber or plastic hammer. be prepared for SC oil to leak all over. Pull off cover and then tap off the middle part of the SC. The rotors are attached to this. Also you will need some of that Permatex gasket stuff to seal the gears back up if you take out the rotors. you don't want Sc Oil leaking all over. :P
reverse all of these to put it back together.
If someone has somemore info feel free to add it.
