1/4mile safty requirements?

Can anyone tell me what type of safety devices I need
@ what speeds?

For example: four point harness, helmet, extinguisher@under 12sec. over 100mph?

I want to run the truck, but I don't want to be sent home after one pass.

If your running 12.0 and and up, all you need is a helmet and a driveshaft loop. I bet no one will even look for the loop, but I recomend one.

IHRA you don't need a cage untill 11.49
NHRA you need one at 11.99

I would still recomend a set of traction bars no matter what speed you run

1/4 mile requirements?

I'm just interested in running the truck just to see how fast this thing will actually send me down the road.

Using a G-tech meter it approx. my time@ 12.5 &114mph.

The road I drove on wasn't in service yet(new homes), but I did a terrible burnout from the launch and then when shifting gears.

I verified the mph with my spedo.

I plan on purchasing Hoosiers/Mickey et on 16"welds.

However, I don't have the option of a roll cage.

I would appreciate any advise, I by no means am any type of "MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE" and love comments/leads I can pursue.

For give me for my spelling it's not my strong point (safty).

If your truck is solidly in the 12's then you should defenitely install a drive shaft loop, and if you plan on running slicks, then a set of traction bars to keep everything straight in the rear, and help prevent drive shaft failure...Depending on where you race, the tech inspection will probably not even thoroughly inspect your truck...But if you roll up to the line and rip off an 11 something pass, EXPECT to be inspected and possibly shut down if you do not have the necessary safety equipment...Have fun!

1. Helmet

2. Driveshsft loop

3. Traction bars or links, especially since you are going to run slicks.

4. Make sure your wheel lugs are torqued(140 ft. lbs) tight

5. Way too early for a cage/roll bar

That's all you have to get but a fire extinguisher would be nice .

1/4 mile safety requirements

I found a dragstrip local to me LACR in Palm Dale.

General rules that apply to most of us:

Drive shaft loop mandetory with slicks

Roll bar between 11.99-11.00

Roll cage 10.99 and quicker

if roll bar & cage apply sfi safety restraints spec.16.1

Helmet 14.00 and quicker

min 1/16 tread depth

I do run a set of traction bars that I made my-self, they are adjustable and let me set the pinion angle (not that I know what to set ).

My recorded G-tech run had a slow 60ft of 2.68 and a 0-60 of 5.9sec. the elasped time and mph didn't seem to make sense.

I'll try to figure out how to post the run.

You should be able to cut about a 1.9x-2.0x with stock F1s.

SubZero -

I wouldnt worry about PalmDale... All they check for there is a helmet..

Also, the track is at 3,000' and the air SUCKS, so I would expect to run anything other than low-mid 13's there...Especially without slicks...

I think Carlsbad opens back up next weekend, I am going to try to go down there... Its at sea level so your times are going to be much better...

Easter looks right on with what I've read in NHRA rulebook. You should all get copies of the rulebook for where you run. Cost is like $12.00.

Some of what Easter lists might not apply as we have Superchargers from factory (Bellhousing?) and Auto Transmissions (Yeah-Clutch). What about Flywheel? I haven't seen aftermarket flywheels, so maybe the 'supercharger' exemption applies there

And yes, there are no aftermarket axles are there?

Happy racing.

Aren't American V-8's Wonderful????

Right on about the air Dale, but I think it 'wheezes' not sucks.

But then again a cold night in the desert gives us a little more density.....

Enforcement is spotty. I did see a 11 Sec Chevelle get drilled for not having a bar/etc. But I've seen 10 sec Vette get by without a bar...go figure.
