intercooler question
What controls the intercooler water circulating pump and when does it run?
My pump was disconected when I got my truck due to a leaky heat exchanger. I just replaced it tonight and will test tomorrow.
How do I know if the pump is working?
Does it just run under boost conditions or all the time?
Whatever you can tell me will be helpfull. It's a 99
Thx
Greg

Oky docky! Went with the premixed 50/50 stuff for a test. Was going to buy some distilled water but fiqured the primix would be good.
Toped off the resevoir and then crawled under with a spare battery and jumperd the pump.
Reversed the polarity and it ran in both directions to dissplace the air. That brought it down to the cold fill line.
Didn't even take the full gallon. Wonder how much the whole system holds?
The replacement heat exchanger was about 1 inch deeper than the original.
Considering all the oil in the super charger and all over the old heat exchanger I think you guys are right about trying to intercept it.
Oil film on the exchanger sure won't help heat transfer.
Will save that issue for another post. Need to stay on track.
Just changed the fuel filter while I was under there and will check the plugs for tightness before I fire it up.
Keep the comments and advice comming. I am a pretty good wrench but this L is a whole new ball game!
Thanks
