procedure to install coil
Is there any special procedure to install the coils on the spark plugs?
I decided to check the plugs for looseness due to all the posts on this topic. FYI, my L has 1500 miles, and all the plugs were tight.
I tried to "rock" the unit back and forth a little to get it to go down in there as far a possible. From the ones I could see, it looks like the plug boot seats onto the metal surface, preventing the boot from going any further.
Thanks

I always place a 'dab' of dielectric grease on the plug end of each boot. This allows the boot to slide down easier and helps keep moisture out while allowing for a good electrical connection between the plug and boot-spring-wire.
Even when the boot is all the way onto the plug, the coil pack will still be above the head by about an 1/8th to a 1/4 inch. The coil bolt will bring the coil firmly down onto the head, thereby compressing the spring-wire that's inside the boot, making a good connection.
