Yes, I'm sure you can but don't do it. I road-coursed my 1986 Saab 9000 Turbo sedan a few years ago It was my daily driver too. I was so gung-ho to get rid of some weight off the front end(remember, this is a FWD car), that I had a tech remove the a/c. Yes, it handled better and was a little quicker but boy, did I miss the a/c in the hot, summer monthe deep in the middle of Ga.

Keep in mind just how much the missing a/c will affect your trade-in value........don't do it .

Cool

HI!... I removed my A/C from my truck about 2 years ago. No problems here. I think before then, I might of used it 3 times. I prefer to drive around with my windows open. My whole reason for removing the A/C from my truck was because my A/C compressor went bad and I brought it to my dealer under warrenty. Well they wouldn't fix it under warrenty because I had power pulleys installed. Their way of thinking was that the power pulleys speed up the acceseries NOT slow them down. What a bunch of MORONS. Well they wanted close to $600.00(CAN) to replace the A/C compressor, labour, and refill the A/C system. I said NO THANKS. I went to the parts counter and got a NON A/C belt tensioner from a 4.6 equipped XL F-150 fleet truck. (same one for 5.4, but they show no listing for it). It cost me about $70.00(CAN). I bought the shorter belt for $28.00(CAN) from a buddy's shop. Dealer wanted $68.00(CAN)!!!!!! It took me about 2 hours to remove everything and get it back up and running. It made a huge difference in throttle responce. If I remember correctly it ended up removing about 50-60LBS from the front of the truck. A/C compressor, condensor, lines, brakets, evapouation canister..... One good thing about no A/C is now in the winter time if you have your heat blowing through the vents, you now can switch your heater contol to MAX A/C and you get about 15% more fam blowing power.

See I rarely ever use AC of my own free will. But the significant other .... I would be in the doghouse for a while if I removed my AC.

yeah thought about that too...hrmmm

wonder if i just do it and not tell her. I don't think she messes with the a/c or cares too. Telling her it saves on gas will help

I'm shaving as many pounds as i can on this thang. anymore ideas for shaving pounds?

Maybe if i take the motor out...

Man I wouldn't, because it will effect the trade-in value, when I trade for the 05

i still wouldn't. Our seats are KILLER without AC in 100+ degree weather.

however, if you must, its your truck. here are some other weight savings:

for the track:
remove hitch, spare, tailgate, passenger seat...floormats, clothes, shoes

for the street:
aftermarket seats like recaros, sparcos etc (i'm working on this one myself)

and maybe a little slimfast wouldn't hurt

I don't need to remove the AC cuz i'm a sprite 140lbs.....fully clothed.

140 pds!!! ?? heh. yeah i need to lose some pounds prob will this summer.

I've removed everything but the a/c i could possibly think of for the street. hitch spare, spare tire wench assembly, spare tool kit... and soon to be a/c

i have never used the a/c during summer.

how tuff of a job to do this considering im a rookie and don't know how to do alot of things. I can change oil

you may not realize it, but the carpet weighs alot. I changed mine for black carpet which I got from Lowes (marine grade by the way) and the new stuff weighs MUCH less.

What do you weigh ?

I always see these people posting about saving 5-10 lbs here and there, stripping down their trucks and they're walking around at 5'9" and 250 pounds looking like the Michelin man.

Just find it funny
