This is not highschool....and it's the ignorant folks that make it like that. Half the people bitching in this thread, i can honestly say i have never seen any of you positively contributing to any post on this Lightning forum. Become more involved on the forum so people will know you more.....then you won't feel like such an outsider. I mean not for nothing, but this is internet land, and if you are so bent out of shape because you don't have any friends on this forum.....you are one sad individual
I disagree. There are cliques formed over ideas here, though easily justified as friendship. Sides are formed, factions are made under the designation of "teams". It's easy to see, if a question is asked, you can just look at the names of half the posters and automatically know what they're going to say, who they'll side with. If you say something that may seem derogatory to one person, then you see an entire team of people against you (and others who'll join you) in a civil war. If you just read through a thread and see certain names appear in unison, you'd automatically know that it must be another battle going on. Where one is, the others follow, even if they don't even have practical experience with the topic (ie brand new blower debates... there's a handful of people that have even seen them, but hundreds that want to debate over them).

It's easy to just ignore the posts and stop reading the thread, but a lot of good information is lost. There's a high level if signal to noise ratio. In a thread, for every informative response, there are 5 that just clutter the board. You could just stop reading the thread, but you do miss out on some good bits of information. I just wish there were more rules in place to weed out the "noise", so that we can stop reading through 10+ pages of posts to read only 5-6 informative posts.

George,

I recall some types of arguments that would persist even 3 years back or so, when we met. Granted, those guys were all joker trolls, but this tuner garbage has gotten out of hand.

I don't visit the site much now because of such confusion on what to get and why. My choice: Bone stock the truck (my new 03). I've decided, due to such confusion, not to mod much at all on my truck and use what little information I can from the site. It's a shame, but the truth is, I think most 99' and 00' owners were former owners and were all enthusiasts. When the supply of trucks became greater, our community grew and became less intimate.

How is it fixed? Tuners need their own area, and not the lightning forum, for discussion. It's simply too much noise having them in the lighting forum hawking their wares at every venue...

I agree..even off topic posts turn into tuner bashes when one tuner posts his opinion then the other has to disagree...sometimes jsut to disagree/argue I think. I have no tuner preference as I believe they all offer something the other can't and with out some competitiveness we would be payin an a$$load for what was available. However w/ the bashing and arguing and rehashing of old/deleted/closed threads it makes them look bad. Do you see Walmart bashing Target in their commercials? No! no business of that size ever got that way w/ an attitude like that. All of our local hipo shops never bash each other when I go in and say well so and so is offering this for this. They say well this is what we can do and offer any info they can and say we hope to see ya back but dont bitch and accuse the other shop of something else when I say I will go there..It's always well thanks for comin if you need anything else we hope you'll give us a call. Thats why they have been in business for 30+ years. Old fashioned ethics and work attitude. Which is what this board offered when I started. I have posted much more on another board because of the family like atmosphere. And size doesnt matter because it is a much larger board than this one. It is less cliquish and someone is always willing to help and dont approve or let someone get bashed or flamed w/o stickin up for them. I have posted on here before and got flamed because I didnt have an L...well guess what I do have a 5.4 reg cab stepside..a 99 I bought new myself out of highschool as a present to myself. I bought this before the L came out and I knew about these boards. But whenever I posted about performance mods I got flamed because it would never be an L. Well it can still be a d@mn nice truck and I am especially proud because it is MINE! Just because its not an SVT doesnt mean I have to be bashed for wanting to tune it. I know it may never be as nice as some of ya'lls but guess what..that doesnt mean its not nice or not fast...and if yours isnt the nicest or fastest dont make those that are"lesser" than yours feel like less to make yours "better". If ya have to y amight wanna look into some therapy. This isnt an aol chat room this is a COMMUNITY. And until it becomes one my posts will stay few and far between. It started as tuner wars and bashing and was a big joke..but guess what jokes on us..or is us actually as this board is turning into one big joke. Which is sad because I think this board started it for all...

BlueOvalBolt,

I see that you edited your post, the ONE post that made the most sense in this entire thread, I just wish I had printed it for my own reference. I came back to read it again thinking I would post a reply to you but, alas, it's gone.

I highly respect your point of view and think that you had drawn a very clear description of the feelings that throngs of "would be posters" experience when faced with clicking the Submit button.

If everyone would post like their Mother was going to read the thread, this would be a nicer place to visit. Those of you that post with this compassion know who you are, and the ones that post with reckeless disregard for the sensitivity of others probably do not know who you are, if you did you would try to be more civil.

This is nothing new and it's the same on all message boards, there will always be that guy that hurts feelings and in-turn causes retaliation from the poster that he hurt. When someone says "I don't give a rat's *** what other people think", or something to that effect, he more than likely means just the opposite, it's human nature to want others to like you, but that's just my way of seeing it, maybe I'm wrong, I have been many times. Flame suit on!

Tim

Thanks for your thoughts Tim. You've always conducted yourself here as a gentlemen and I respect that. I removed it for a couple of reasons.

First, it broke a posting rule I made for myself awhile back which was to keep my personal opinions and emotions out of posts I make and stick to contributing only factual, helpful information when possible. I felt my post crossed that line for me.

Secondly, which probably is why I made the above rule, is that I realize I don't have the energy, stomach, thick enough skin, whatever you want to call it, to engage in highly charged, chest beating, free form debates which this board/thread sometimes engages in. I take things way to personally and wasn't prepared to deal with the possible fallout from my post.

I guess I came to the conclusion sometime ago that I have way too much fun and take too much pleasure in my SVT experience in "real life" to risk it being diminished by somebody in "internetland" either ignoring me or making some sort of insensitive remark. This might classify me as a "sad individual" or a wuss but I have come to terms with it and that's all that really matters.

If by chance someone has that post saved and think it adds to the discussion, I don't have a problem with them posting it.

Peace,

Chris

(Dang, I think I just broke rule one again).

Alot of the problem is we all voice our opinion in different ways. Its hard to voice your opinion behind a keyboard.Im so easy to get along with in person,People just take things to heart more on here.I understand.I do too.

Im not going to get involved on ALL aspects of this thread cause I would be here FOREVER but the one thing I notice latley is some people ARE taking pefectly good threads and blowing them up .I dont like having to take the ime to "sift" through the BS to get real questions answered.

On the other hand,SometimesI do like to get into the ball busting myself anf i have alot of fun with it.I just wish the real threads were left alone for facts and opinions. Not facts and wars.

On topic

I haven't had any major issues with anyone here and I'm sorry I can't post as much useful info. It's hard to do when someone has always been there before you, which is the main reason I started watching this site back in 93 when I had the Gen 1 L. But I can say that I have gotten a TON of useful info from here about my Gen 2. Every neighborhood has problems periodically but they are usually resolved as they are and will be here. This site has been and will continue to be my favorite L site. I prefer this to other L sites without a doubt. I'm not looking for a "free post" or anything. I just want the people that run this site to know that I appreciate what they do.

Don

I agree. I have noticed there is more BS than I want to read.

Really simple actually - DON'T read it ...!!!
sonichog,

With all due respect, here are my comments on this topic, and your comments here. This does not apply to my opinion of you or any other comments you have made on this board. Please understand that you have provided me a good opportunity to make a point on the topic of this thread, and I appreciate that.

I think if you spend enough time engaged in these conversations you tend to focus on those commenting and often forget that the are those who quietly read the comments. I'm part of this quiet group. I don't know much about performance beyond faster is better, and I'm looking to the experts for some educational facts. Fact is, I've learned a lot here on this board. I'm looking for two things, some entertainment, and the knowledge to make sound F-150 maintenance decision.

These types of comments offers no facts, have no educational value, and don't enhance the entertainment factor. In my opinion, this is a perfect example of the BS this this topic is addressing. I'll be first in line to agree that you're entitled to your opinion, especially when I disagree with that opinion, because I love a good debate. It brings out the best in all of us, but before I can back your right to state your opiniion you have to have something to say. Stating the obvious as a form of ridicule is not much of an opininon. When I read comments that are just tearing something apart with no factual basis what so ever, and void of any entertainment value I tend to look at the clock and wonder if I have been on this computer too long.

From a reader's perspective, I have a limited time available to do my F-150 related research, so I'm looking for the best educational comments. Not all comments are educational, but to continue on you have to believe that the next one has promise, and the thread is going somewhere.

I did enjoy this thread.

Oh, while we are on the subject, I just want to make sure it is clear to all that I appreciate the time spend commenting in these threads and the the knowledge I have gained. Thank you.
