Question Nitrous questions

Well im waiting on my kit to arrive, this is the first vehicle that i am using nitrous with and i have a few questions. Is it safe to hold the throttle just under WOT and then nail it if needed??This question is for anyone using a PSP flip switch, what is the procedure for changing programs??newer chips can be flipped on the fly correct??

Thanks Jerry

Yes but I would strongly recommend using a nitrous ONLY program if you plan on doing a relatively large shot. Retard the timing, add necessary fuel, etc etc. for that program.

Also, I wouldn't flip on the fly at near WOT....

just my .02

I have a flip chip comming from PSP along with the kit.I would never flip the chip near WOT,what i would like to do is be sitting at a light in a situation where i might have to **cough cough** merge quickly hehehehe then give the chip a flip at idle and then merge really really quickly!!!

installed nos system off old mustangi had. same kit nos is selling for gen 2 L's. all stock, ran 13.8 w/ 2.1 60' time. with (about) 75 shot, ran 13.2 w/ 1.95 60' time. guessed at maybe 110-120 shot, ran 12.9 w/ 1.81 60' time. stock tires. replacement k&n. got to heat those F1's though. down side, F1's turn into slicks real fast. But, they will hook!new mods on order, will see what happens this year. been driving mustangs for last 11 years, gen 1 L too, but, this truck has gained my respect. kick somebodys butt, pink slip? put it on the trailer and tow it home too!!!!!!

Ya what cyntaxx said

I am currently setting my Lightning up for Nitrous, and have posted every possible question about it lately.
Search under my name for Nitrous and you'll find tons of info.

I originally thought I could use one of my current three programs, but found out I cant. As we speak my chip is on it's way to a "NEW TUNER" (one of ours) for his Nitrous Program. I am keeping my Race Only ALL MOTOR Program and will now use that for the track and for my daily street program. Ah what the hell, it don't detonate on pump gas and I can run low to mid 12's on F-1's with it. Then I will have a NITROUS ONLY Program for race day, but know I can still run my normal program and rip out ALL MOTOR runs too. Best of both worlds

I can switch programs on the fly, BUT DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT WHEN YOUR ABOUT TO JUICE IT. If your gonna juice it, have the correct program running, and juice it. YOU CAN ONLY JUICE IT AT WOT, you never ever want to juice it NOT AT WOT

I have never dyno'd, but truly need to
I believe I will be making my first pass at Cecil on ALL MOTOR to see what ET improvements I have with the 28" Hoosiers, the Truck trak Bars, the Plasma Booster, the Accu-Fab, and the Upper Pulley. Although I ran the upper all last year, I DID NOT use it to get my last ET of 12.8, so all the above should be good for at least 3 to 5 /10's off the 12.8

THEN WITH THE JUICE

Lets just say a Certain someone is burning me a Nitrous Program as we speak, and he will be taken Data from me at Cecil
""before any spraying takes place"
Thats why I'm keeping my ALL MOTOR Race program on the same chip. One way or another I'm making passes and even if on all motor, it will be my best ET EVER

Rob, either someone is feeding you a line or just trying to sell you a chip because I know that you can run a 50hp shot on your mild street program with no problem. I talked with NX at great length about this and with a 50hp shot you do not have to compensate by adding more fuel or less timing. I have ran my 75hp shot on my street program a few times and it ran awesome. Plus with the 50hp shot you are actually cooling the air charge just enough to where you actually are reducing the change of detonation. I think someone was just trying to sell you a chip but if you go above the 50hp shot (Which you will) then I would go with the nitrous program while on the bottle.

HANKFAN

BTW
Why do you think I'm keeping my NORMAL RACE PROGRAM

I contacted a great Tuner and aked if he would burn me a program. I rather be safe than sorry for the first few squirts.
Zex is pretty firm on their directions. They say DO NOT use a Chip, because they know it advances the timing. They also say no need to retard the timing with 55HP Jets but retard it 2 degrees for every 10HP you add thereafter. but they are using stock timing as their reference point. My current two programs are identical other than a 2 degree of timing difference. So now I will have my best current program, and a Nitrous Program. Don't worry pal, I aint chickening out, I ""will be"" putting larger jets in it as you suspect and as time goes on and ""I will try and run my other programs"" Who knows, maybe even at Cecil, it all depends on the readings we get that day

you've been a big help Hank, THANKS
