Got truck stuck in driveway tonight, and new pics of latest interior mod!
Well, I got my truck back tonight. I've been without it for exactly a week while I was in Daytona. I promptly got it stuck halfway in the street and halfway into my driveway
.
A nice neighbor came over with a snow shovel and helped me push/dig out enough to get a running start and launch the truck into the driveway at speed. I got out of the street at least.
the problem is that I just picked the truck up from the stereo shop and the inside smells like glue and fiberglass and stuff so I REALLY wanted to get the truck into the garage so I could leave the windows down and air it out some.
so anyway, like a fool, I carried 600lbs of weights (no *****) down my snowy driveway and loaded the bed of the truck.
I then against my better judgement, drove the truck back out of the snowy driveway and into the snowy street. I figured that since I was out, I'd go get some dinner.
coming back in, I had to pull in and back out once to get a running start, but managed to get the truck all the way up the driveway under it's own power and into the garage.
anyway, she's not going out tomorrow.
here are the pics of the new goodies.

the XM antenna (sp?) isn't staying there, it's just sortof sitting there for a few days until I can get back down there and experiment with different locations.
it REALLY SHOULD be on the roof, but I think it'll look tacky there. I drove to Kinston N.C. the other weekend with it sitting on the ledge of the back window (still inside the cab) just behind the passenger side headrest.
Even in it's current location (low and out of site), around town reception is just fine. I didn't lose any signal tonight at all.
However on the drive to Kinston with the unit up in the window (very clear day and higher window mounting location) I lost the signal quite frequently. In cities they have transmitters that broadcast the signal locally. I forget what they call them, but again around town reception is just fine. however once you get out into the boonies a little, you start breaking up and the signal may cut in and out. this is very annoying, trust me. imagine listening to your radio at full sound level and someone turning the sound on and off like a light switch. it sucks.
supposedly you can even paint the antenna piece to match the body of the vehicle, but that stupid cord pisses me off. we are going to try mounting it in the bed of the truck. maybe just Velcro it to the bedrug in the center since I rarely carry anything in the back. and if I ever need to haul something I could just un-velcro the antenna and stick it on the side of the bed or wheel well hump or something like that. the question then is can the thing get a signal through the soft tonneau cover?
we'll see soon enough.
sorry for the long post.

I went to gradeschool, college and was roomates for years with the shop owner's nephew, and I grew up riding bikes and stuff as little kids with the actual installer.
I knew I could trust them to take care of my truck while I was out of town, and as you can see they did not dissappoint on the finished product.
they actually had a totally different sub enclosure setup installed this morning, I didn't like it so they threw it away and made this one. I like it alot. damn truck smells like paint though. think I got high huffing the fumes on the way home!
