A number have gone to hotchkis. I know they are a lighter sway bar.

The Hotchkis bars are about 8 lbs. lighter, as I recall, but they are 50% stiffer. That was the first suspension mod than I did, and it stiffened up the front end enough to exacerbate the already obnoxious factory understeer. Now that I have the other goodies on, the truck is much better balanced. But of course if you are a drag racer your goal is not handling but weight transfer, so like VINNIE you may want no bar at all.

Adds weight over the rear.

I'm sure that the day I take it off, I will get a flat, in the front...which would require me to take a back tire, put it in the front (to clear the brakes) and put the spare on the back.

Its my luck.

When I thru the big brakes on, I chunked the spare and the pulley system that went with it, and it made a noticeable difference.

Vinnie would you compare driving with and without the sway bar? If i drive my truck every day to school and work, and dont drag race it every night, Leave it on there? Or if you cant tell that much with it off, ill take mine off. Any info or suggestions for me, thanks, Shane

Shane,
I drove my truck about 100 miles without the front sway bar. The truck tends to wander and hunt cracks and seams in the road without it on. I did not like it at all. It drove like my '88 K-5 without it.
