For Those of you using Water Wetter

What ratio water/glycol do you run?

I think I am going to drain my radiator and refill it with a 70/30 mix and add 1 to 1.5 bottle of WW.

Also, what is the factory ratio on the intercooler? 50/50?? Would it be ok to reduce the glycol in the intercooler and add WW?

Search police: I have done a search on this but was unable to find enough info to base my decision on.

Gracias amigos!

No glycol (anti-freeze) at all?

Iam in a little different climate than yourself, so anti-freeze is important to me.
All I know, is what I've read about WaterWetter. It sounded good to me, so I added 1 bottle to my motor radiator and TWO bottles to my intercooler

Unless you've got an electric water pump, you better think
about adding something in the way of lubricant to your near 100% water volume or your pump will die prematurely.

Antifreeze has such lubricants, but there are aftermarket lubes, too.

1 bottle of Water Wetter for the radiator and one for the intercooler. No antifreeze, just water. Same setup I had in my last three vehicles in AZ: 01L, 00 SS Camaro, 96 Blown Mustang.
Zero problems.

Not saying it can't be done (pure water), but it's still risky business. There will be a price to pay. Water pumps require lubrication afforded by additives in antifreeze, which also has other important additives, such as rust inihibitors.

Cool

HI!... I thought the WATER WETTER had added lubricants to it to lube the water pump? That's what I've always been told.

Hey Dan,

Did you completely drain your intercooler? and did you also put in some glycol along with the 40 below?

I plan on draining some coolant from my intercooler tank and then add distilled water to reduce the glycol concentration down to approx. 30% then add the WW.

I am going to wait on my radiator because I plan on taking the truck in for them to find out what's going on with that darn oil leak, and I have a feeling the head is going to be coming off

Sammy: Yea, I drained the i/c reservoir, put in 40-Below, Prestone's Rust Inhibotor(recommended by dist.?), and water. I just added WW to the radiator.

Thumbs up

I drained about 75% of my i/c radiator and put one bottle of WW and water in. WW's original design intent was for small dragster radiators and to be used w/ water only to help with keeping "slippery" antifreeze of the drag. WW has lubricators in it to keep your system properly lubricated.

Here's a link to redline for technical information on Water Wetter.

How did you drain the intercooler system? Did you siphon it out or is there a pit****?

There is a drain on the bottom passenger side of it (my drain still had the tape on it from when the factory painted it.)
