Bad alignment question
Bad alignment question
I had my lower control arms replaced and tires rotated at 2500 miles on my 2000L. I now have 8200 miles. I just rotated my tires and noticed both the fronts were worn pretty badly on the insides. Could this be due to the truck not being aligned when they installed the new lower control arms. I have the receipt and it says nothing about the alignment being done. Should I be able to get the alignment done for free and should I ask for a new set of tires if this is the case? Any help would be great.
I had this same thing happem to me. My tire ended up going flat because of it. Never did find out what really happened. All of my alignments were within spec and the only thing that FORD could come up with was that my wheel bearings were loose (which they were). Anyway, FORD fixed the wheel bearings and I haven't been able to drive the truck much since due to weather. I can't really say if that fixed it or not.
Sorry for the rambling, I guess I didn't really offer a solution, just my story.......

72smitty;When I had my " L " lowered and then aligned, the alignment
shop told me they (Ford) had stopped putting camber plates on
F-150's to save money. I had to buy those to get correct alignment job done! Those parts were I think around $80. if memory serves me right. They should of told you that when they
did your job ? Ask at a good alignment shop by you or at Ford Service at dealer as to getting an alignment. It should of been
when those parts were replaced for sure!!!
Thanks for the posts guys. I took my baby to the Ford dealer here in Cheyenne and they put the camber plates in and aligned the truck. They have a Rep coming out tomorrow to talk to me. He says I won't have to pay for the work because it should have been done in the first place. Now all there is to do is to try and get two new tires out of deal. Thanks especially to Robert, your diagnosis was dead on.
