Warranty Question

I have read a number of threads, especially recently, about individuals having their warranty denied. Tim Skelton just posted on another thread some good facts about how to deal with a dealership/Ford. He is correct that companies generally will look at the amount of atty time vs how much it costs to fix your truck and will decide which way to go at times. Believe me, companies do this everyday.
But my question is more basic. What mods do you think are withing the scope of NOT causing your warranty to be voided? For example, I doubt that replacing your paper air filter with a K&N panel filter would raise a singel eyebrow. But what happens when you put in a PSP? or what happens when you move to an Accufab TB? drop kit? change light bulbs in the headlights? install shackles? put on a 2lb pulley? 4? 6? what about nitrous?
There are a ton of mods that can be done and some of them are done everyday.. I plan on buying an extended warranty and keeping my L for a long time, there really isnt anything out there right now that comes close to what it does, for me. But I would like to retain my security blanket of a warranty..
What do you think? where does the line get drawn?
Thanks
Dana

well I'd say no chip, no pulleys, You should get away with a cold air intake, since it doens't add strain on the motor. other then that nothing else? a new TB might be ok. boost bypass will be a no no.

go with a fact tech valve body, it's a very needed mod that won't hurt warrenty really. Maybe try 4.10's but I have no experience with diff gears.

Didnt

do the FT Valve Body but did do a line valve mod.. about the same difference.. did put the F250 tranny pan on to get the drain plug and a couple of extra qts of fluid.. just upgraded the brake pads and rotors.. but it would be doubtful that Ford would warranty anything on them past 12k miles anyway..

Let's see..if you own a 99-00 and upgrade the Mass Air Meter
even if it is say to a Ford manufactured 01-03 type...they see..
associated with major repairs..anything internal to the engine...and the take pictures..even if this is not the root cause of the failure Ford seems to think they can ****e on the consumer.
They will take pictures of your intake tract...any obvious damage to the engine..percieved is well you know..ignored or Not depending on the Company Representation. If on the other hand you are willing to go to the effort of returning to stock every item
you may not have problems..roll the dice.

I had read this before and have spoken to owners and read multiple posts about the line valve mod. I am sure Greg makes a wonderful unit and it seems that those that use his valve body are happy with its results. But those that have the line valve mod appear to be just as happy and I didnt see one report of any failures. The piece put in mine will be fine as I drive Granny over 70% of the time and dont stress the tranny or engine. But when I do get on it the thing shifts great.. But I really appreciate where you are coming from. However, remember that the article was written by the guy who makes the piece and is openly stating that he isnt unbiased in his writing. The tuner I use here buys parts from all the different tuners, tries them on his own L, and then makes recommendations from there. So I feel pretty good about the way I went on this one. I do like to hear from everyone what their thoughts are on different mods. I esp want to hear what people think about the items that will cause you to lose your warranty. I think the mods I have made are well within those bounds, since my truck is still basically stock. And I plan to keep it that way.
Thanks
Dana
