I like both the black and the red one. Except for the nose. I think Dodge needs to change their front end. also, I have never had a Chrysler product that has not given me trouble. I would be interested to hear what the troubles will be once this is production. The main thing that would lean me toward the Dodge is the Fact that Viper engines don't throw rods or blow spark plugs. THat is a biggy for me. I once wanted a Lightning, now I like them but wouldn't invest my money to own one just for those 2 reasons. Reliability is a must.

I just don't understand how they(FORD) went from the 302 5.0L that was bullet proof to this modular motor that is so brittle in the lower end and in the spark plug area. Now you show me a used Lightning with a rebuilt engine with new heads and I WOULD spend my money on that.

There is one for sale on SVT performance. No, it isn't mine and I have no idea who's it is.

Oh man, I'm so scared!!!

that truck doesn't sound that cool for a V10, and the black is so much better looking then the red and its still ugly so that red one is like.

I didn't watch the video yet but I still know it sucks! Blow me Dodge. This will be a yuppy truck just like the viper is a yuppy car and the owners will not drive them on the street very often.

I dunno, I wouldn't mind having a Lightning AND a Viper in my garage. Maybe next two years or so.

That is a beautiful truck. The interior is sweet. The engine is sweet. The rims look good. It sounds nice. I dont like the gas cap too much and the bed cover is a little weird but it would be a fun truck to have. For 50 large i am keepin the L cause i cant drop that much on a vehicle at this time. I say keep the competition coming and all the companies will step it up a notch and the result will be better adn better trucks..

I love the looks(except for the wing),love the potential of that motor, but I don't think it will sell well. It's just too high of a price for the truck. They should have gone with a blown hemi or the soon to be released 6.1L hemi and kept it in the low 30s to high 20s. It's a bad marketing move,IMO.

There is a post on another board that Dodge had the truck at Daytona for speed weeks. He was able to drive it on a closed track and said the shifting was pretty good. So whatever you think of its looks (I think its butt ulgy) it will be competition. And thats good for us. Dodge threw down on Colleti and company, lets see how the Gen 3 responds in its street version

**Edit**
after watching the video, two question come to mind:

1) Did they cover the rear tires with charcoal for the burnout?

2) Don't you think the truck should get its own valve covers?

I see how they got the V-10 in that new Dodge, they just sucked up a Viper through that Superior Bus Company grill.

So for $50,000 ($10 a pound) I too can get a truck that can compete with my 2000 Lightning.

Wow.

I'm on the same page with you on these two points. Guy spends $50k on a vehicle, and gets valve covers from the donor car?
