Question mechanical method to secure plugs ?

haven't tried checking my plugs yet, but is there any mechanical method to secure a plug once it's tightened ? this would include some kind of 'wedge' or even wiring like header bolts. even if a spark plug socket was cut in half, put over plug bearing surface, and locked with some kind of pin (may affect cooling). any thoughts on if this is possible ? this plug launch stuff is making me nervous.

thanks,
dave

I'd worry more about some terrorist dropping an anthrax bomb in the neighborhood. You can control the plug "issue" by checking them on a regular basis

You could always put them in and poor JB weld in there. Not sure how you would get them out though

JB Weld them in

One time plug change though

Or, see if Stage 8 can make us Stage 8 Spark Plug Locking Bolts!

It would be cool if someone could come up with some type of threaded sleeve that would thread down on top of the plug. The hole that the plug is down in would be tapped. The sleeve would be open in the middle to let the plug stick through but the sleeve would screw down on top of the metal part of the plug to hold it down. Dunno if that made any sense to anyone but oh well.

Back in the early 60s, I was a mech. for Delta a/lines. I worked at the Delta hanger at Miami International Airport. We pulled 'checks' on DC 6s & 7s--big, reciprocating engs, 3 turbos, 18 cyls, & 2 plugs /cyl. Each plug(much bigger than auto plugs but similar) had tp be safety-wired to a hole in the head casting. The plugs had steel bodies with drilled holes for the wire.

Can't do this with our plugs/engs because of plug location.
