Truck doesn't downshift from 30 mph
Don't worry about the drive cycle thing. Your dealer is a moron. I have never pulled the codes on any vehicle in my life that didn't have that P1000 code (drive cycle not completed). A "drive cycle" is when the OBD-II portion of the PCM has done self tests on all 8 portions of the OBD-II system in one key cycle. There is no specific time or driving habit that will ensure a drive cycle is completed. When I was going to Ford training school, I was discussing drive cycles with one of the engineers, and he said they did a drive cycle study one time. They said they drove a Taurus 3000 miles across the country taking turns driving and it never completed a full drive cycle.
I absolutly believe you sal and trust your judgement . This is one thing i noticed about the differences from my 99/00/02.For some reason my 99/00 would NOT downshift at more than 20mph until I chipped them.My 02 definatly shifts up to 30 mph "sometimes"Enen a few MPH gets you going ALOT faster after the shift.
But Im sure we agree,When you floor it just above whatever the mark is,Our trucks do feel like a dog.I have actually ALMOST lost races to cars because i did not have enough room to outrun them.Im talking SLOOOOOOOOOW cars
Even though i won,It was embarrasing for them to even stay with me concidering what some of them were.
I want to just make clear,I dont want the person who started this thread to go to the dealer and think something is wrong. It is a normal characterisic of Lightnings in general.
