Toyota debuts Tundra Craftsman truck
A few pf you hit it on the head. It WILL bring more people into Nascar, however those people (Toyota) will bring lots and lots of CASH and it will raise the stakes. They are here to win. Look at their F1 program, their 1st year was a success by anyone's standard and their '03 car looks pretty good too. Which shows that they understand how and where to direct the huge budget they have, unlike Ford (Jaguar) who look like a one legged man in a butt kickin' contest.
Ford, GM, and Dodge will have to raise their game if they are going to compete.
Oh, and Ford (if your listening) try alittle continuity with your factory team(s), unlike the revolving door at Jaguar were you are a disappointment at best. You can still sell out to Red Bull and be done with F1. Oh and your WRC program is a joke too. What dip***** was responsible for letting Mcrae and Sainz go????

Wow. How much horse power does a truck have to make to require the use of 4 hood pins? Or is that some sort of rule? Man this is a good thing. If racing circuits are also used to help in the development of performance production vehicles then the more competition on the race circuit the better.
There is no way in hell, Iam going to cheer for a Jap truck, plain and simple.
Iam still living in the past, and speaking of ther past, I wish my uncle could have lived during the bombing of Pearl Harbour. It would be nice to be able to speak to him. ***** the Japenese cars & trucks.

well, lemme see, we have tide and some gambling casino sponsoring now along with viagra so sony, jvc, sure, why not uncle ben's would be a pretty cool sponsor actually. the cost of nascar racing is fast outpacing the amount of cash they make so bringing in a more diverse group only makes sense. you may not cheer for them but then a lot of guys don't cheer for the chevy's and a lot don't cheer for the ford's but a lot do and their is a whole lot of toyota drivers out there who would love to cheer for their favorite toyota driver and then maybe we could get some actual races over in japan.
think of it this way, we let toyota in and that is just the start of nascar booting F1 in the butt worldwide.

I'm very surprised by the attitude of it. Is everyone's ***** size so threatened by the arrival of a Toyota? Yeah, Pearl Harbor sucked, but then we went and dropped the first AND second only ever used ATOMIC WEAPONS on them. That wasn't payback enough? They dishonorably killed thousands of our US MILITARY, so we went and OBLITERATED tens-of-thousands of their CIVILIANS.
War sucks, and history defines who the bad guy is. We won, so of course, they're the "torturous evildoers who abused everything and everyone". If the "other side" won, we'd be the "torturous evildoers who abused everything and everyone." If you can't see this, you are far to close minded. History is always written by the victor. Welcome to 1984, er, I mean the Patriot Act of 2001.
Hrm.
Me, I'm looking forward to Toyota running in the mix. Will give me a new logo to see in the little pole position list, and FINALLY, a new body shape.

Having worked for a Japanese owned company for over 20 years, I know where most of the PROFITS go.
While I'm not thrilled about the American built/Foreign owned Toyota entry into NASCAR,
how is this any different from the American built/Foreign owned Dodge???????????
We need a good STOCK car series. Run what ya build!

I dont think Nascar will ever surpass F1. F1 is just too damn popular all over the world except here in the US. I believe F1 is the second or third most watched sport in the world first is soccer, second or maybe third Tennis.
Huge F1 fan here and HUGE supporter of the Scuderia.
Hmmmmmm
Lets see
Iam an a$$hole for caring a grudge for killing the only uncle I ever had, yeah right. And Iam sure you didn't have any family that was in the Bataam death march. And if anyone thinks we won, think again.....look what has been done to our economy.
Maybe I would think different if I made a living selling, manufactoring, servicing, etc Japenese products.
But I dont...Thank you very much, but I prefer to live in my world, you live in your perfect world
If you don't learn from your past, your bound to repeat it in the future..
This story was lived by Jesse Knowles and written in April, 1943, while he and several hundred other Americans were Prisoners-of-War of the Japanese in Mukden, Manchuria. During the march from Mariveles, on the southern end of the Bataan Peninsula, to San Fernando, 55 miles away, 76,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war were bound, beaten, or killed by their Japanese captors. Some were bayoneted when they fell from exhaustion. Some were forced to dig their own graves and were buried alive. Only 56,000 prisoners reached camp alive. Thousands of them later died from malnutrition and disease. In August, 1945, the Russian Army liberated the prison camp in Mukden and the first Americans they saw were at the Harbor of Darien, Manchuria, when the U.S. Navy loaded the prisoners aboard a ship for the long-awaited trip home....to the U.S.A.

No offense Bruce, but the Japanese economy isn't exactly stellar right now either. China is the only non-depressed economy right now...and they probably make 50% of the things you buy right now.
While remembering the past, and honoring those from it is very important, and is something that should never be overlooked, moving ON from the past is just as important. If we don't move on, humanity as a whole is doomed to fail.
We (the US) are not exactly innocent either. Try to count how many native americans are left? We death marched them.
I am not trying to discount anything. I have a whole slew of relatives in my family tree who were slaughtered by the ****'s and Stalin. My mom was born in a liberated German refugee camp while my grandparents were leaving Europe as WW2 was winding down. Remberence and respect is important, but there is a time to take it foward and work on creating a better world. Sitting around being bitter isn't going to make it happen.
