Lunar boost/steering column pod install
Lunar boost/steering column pod install
The guage i installed is the Autometer Lunar series boost/vac #4103. The steering column pod (#A15004) is also built by Autometer and RKKustom stocks it. Both were 2 1/16th's. This is an easy install and looks awesome not to mention functionality. I connected the boost line to the guage per the instruction's. Then fed it carefully (because it's coiled and hard to work with) through the pod hole along with the two wires (ground and lighting). Next push the guage into the hole about halfway (i removed the two little stickers on the guage and the rubber shock band so it would fit). In the truck remove the fuse panel door (lower left side of instrument console) and carefully pull off the instrument column panel (this is the black piece that fits to the rear of the steering column with the rubber sealing strip around it) This gives you room to work to get the wires and tubing run. Next find the factory boost tubing which you will see coming out of the engine compartment to a rubber fitting under the dash. Carefully pull the tubing out of the fitting on each side (be careful to not bend it while pulling or it may break). Once you have it disconnected take a soft rubber "T" fitting (Pep boy's has it for $1.99, 7/64th's) and connect the two lines to it. Now route the boost tube down the right side of the rear of the steering column and connect it to the T fitting. I connected my wiring as follow's. I pulled the 5 amp fuse (2nd row, 4th one up) which is the lighting fuse, stripped the wire a bit and connected it. This will allow the guage to light when the lights are turned on. This will not allow the dimmer function to work. The guage instructions state it will shorten the guage's life to keep it lit all the time so i did mine this way and it's real accessible. Then i took a small ring connector and a screw just under the fuse panel area worked well for the ground. Now i pushed the guage in so i could see approximately where i wanted it orientated for viewing. I mounted the pod, got it into place, and then fine tuned the viewing orientation while in the driver's seat. Once happy, you can use the included two sided tape, or drill the column and screw it in with fasteners (both method's are included). I used the two sided tape and put it on each side of the pod towards the rear where flat and then carefully spread it and placed it back into position. It fits beautifully and looks Bling as the ****en's. I then proceeded to test it out. I showed 15 pounds of boost at WOT, and that's about right with my 6 pound, and cool air out. I also went out after dark and it looks incredible lit up! As in all installation's read your instructions well and enjoy!

I put the same pod in last week, with a Trans temp guage though. I however didn't remove the rubber piece on the steering problem and don't have any fit or operation problems with the steering column.
Rob, i gotta get in the picture posting thing. You have been an inspiration!!!! Nosdog, i just removed it to make it a little easier to route the wires/tubing, it just snap's off.
i am curious to see pics also. I was on the phone just last night with summet and was getting info on ordering a dash bezel for my L. I already have a dual pod, with air fuel, and boost.
I just wanted to get two more guages, trans temp and 1 other, so im going with the dash bezel. I was wondering if i can get pics of that in a finished F150 dash like mine. Thank you, Shane

is this the steering colum pod your talking about or is it a single one that just sits on the colum?

I am looking for that dual dash pod and the only place i found it was summit and it was for a super duty. will that fit? Thanks, Shane

Shane, the pod you have pictured is not the one we are discussing. It is a single column mount pod, I do not think the one pictured would fit but call and verify. I can say the single pod is one nice fitting piece and blocks very little dash function's (i am 6' even and it only blocks around the 0 to five MPH area of that guage and the odometer. Everything else is cool. I LOVE IT!!!!, one of the best mod's i've done...looks and functionality.
