SVO Throttlebody owners....how do you like it? and some Qs..

Looking at getting a used SVO TB w/ tps. I've heard these don't stick as much as the Accufabs. They aren't polished though but I could care less if it performs as good or better considering the price...

sooooo....do I need a reburn? Or can I bolt this right on w/o changing anything else?

Also, I've never installed a TB but I figure it can't be much harder than a air filter kit...plus i've taken off the boot before, checked the TB for oil, etc etc. so i'm pretty sure i can handle it.

where does the tps sensor go though? is it on the unit itself or does it connect elsewhere? anything else i should be aware of when installing the unit?

and finally....any actual perf. w/ the SVO? I have heard the Accufabs provide improved throttle response and marginal hp gains. the SVO should do the same correct?

No reburn is necessary for a th/body. I sold my SVO to someone(Flash?) over on nloc last year and he polished it pretty nicely. I sold it to get my BABolt one. The TPS should come with it and it's easy to install. Not much if any performance gains though with any of them.

Well I have heard there is noticeable (SOTP) gain in throttle response. I doubt it is worth more than a handful of rwhp though but I expect that. I'm just glad i'm not paying 450 for a new Accufab...

May I ask how much you sold it for? and do you know of any problems w/ sticking with this unit? i have heard they are better than the accufabs in that sense but then again it could just be rumors....

also forgot to ask. the SVO unit is the same one found on the 2000 Cobra R correct?

thanks

Angry Save your Dough College Boy

Not really worth the money in my opinion. I got diddly squat from my Accufab. Save up for something else like Long Tubes. JMO.

haha no flame intended but i don't think LTs are worth the money either. but then again I'm one cheap SOB

I can get one used at a decent price...about half that of a new accufab. i will go for it as long as it meets my expectations of a little more throttle response...dont really expect hp improvement on this one...

couldn't search for SVO throttle bodies cuz the SVO is too short....but i found this about adjusting the TPS voltage:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...y&pagenumber=2

looks trickier than i thought and i dont have a multimeter. is this always a problem or should i only check it if i get a rough idle or surging? hope those multimeters aren't too expensive...probably 10 bucks at radioshack or something? either way sounds more involved than i thought...sigh

i cant wait for warmer weather when i can work on my BICYCLE again

Long tubes are worth the money when you have the power in the truck already, a stock or very mildly done truck I wouldn't do it either. I noticed a huge gain with mine and I'm glad I did them.

as for the SVO TB, I got one and I'm happy with it. Its not bling bling but thats the only one they had out when I was looking for a TB so go figure. Always got to be first in line, thats me!

It didn't 'stick' and the TPS should be right-on. Try idling it after the install--should be OK. I think I sold mine for $150? You can reuse the original gasket.

wow 150?? guess someone got a better deal than me! i hope it is worth the 235 i am paying

so you dont think there is a need to check the TPS voltage unless i experience idling, etc?

i have to disconnect the neg on the batt first right?

bought my SVO TB used from easterisland a year and a half ago and like it. I noticed increasd tip in throttle response. No sticking issues or reburn required. $235 is a good price IMHO.

four bolts, one nut, unplug the TPS on the passenger side of the TB, bolt the new one in.

Simple mod. You should check your TPS voltage just to be on the safe side. clonetek did a nice how-to.

You can also hit the TB with some Mothers mag polish and semi-bling it.

where can you buy the SVO's at? i don't think there would be any difference between that and the accufab as far as performance.

taxx,

I'll be near Purdue next week and can toss the tool bag and multimeter in the truck. You just get the rest of the goodies. It will be a quick swap.
