Need help with ticking noise
I hear a ticking noise whenever I touch the gas pedal. If I take my foot of the pedal and let the truck coast it will make the noise whenever I touch the pedal again. I'm not talking about slamming the pedal either. I'm not anywhere near boost and I can hear this sound. It seems to happen 100% of the time. I can't tell if it is there when I really get on it because the blower whine drowns it out. Near as I can tell it happens at any speed. I'll take my foot of the gas and then as soon as I put even the slightest pressure on the pedal I get this noise. It seems to be coming more from the passenger's side but I can't really tell. My truck is stock and has ~1000 miles on it. Is this something I should be concerned about? I have no idea what detonation sounds like, could this be it? I appreciate any thoughts on this.
Check all your spark plugs to make sure none of them are loose!! You will get a ticking noise if one of them are. You should get this checked right away before you drive it. Could also be an exhaust leak, but it sounds more like a loose plug.
thanks for the quick response, I should mention the truck is an 03 with the new heads (supposedly) It does sound a little bit like exhaust. If the plugs are ok it's still something I should get checked out though huh?
