Question Help with engine removal

All of these broken rod stories are starting to scare me. I am thinking of pulling my own engine and getting one of PSP's lower end packages. I would rather spend $1,900 now then a lot more later.

My local shop wanted $3,500 just to upgrade the rods only!

Would anyone know where I can find information on pulling a L engine? I remember seeing something awhile back, but could not find it. Would a Chilton's manual help?

Has anyone had any experience with PSP's lower end package and just how difficult are they to put in?

Any help and/or direction would be appreciated

You can remove the engine without removing the cab. I have seen 5 or 6 of them done local by just using a cherry picker, including mine.

You can take it out through the hood. Just gota remove most of the upper part of the motor and accessorys.

Althought that way is the easiest........not too many people have access to a lift like that in their garage. I would use the cherry picker method......probably more time taking but it can be done in your own garage.

For specific questions I would get ahold of a local dude Rob (RDY2RAC). I am pretty sure he removed his own motor in his garage..........hell I think he removed his own tranny too.
