SES light question...

...Ok, so I just purchased my 2000L last week.
This truck is equipped with one of the first C&L 80mm MAF / filter combos they produced, so it has been in the truck for awhile now. (This is not the chip combo)

Well, the SES light is on, and has been steady since we purchased it. The previous owner stated it comes and goes, and I figured it was due to the airflow being slightly different that was causing it.

Well, I have been doing some searches on this MAF, and finding different opinions on why this may occur.

I am starting to get a little worried that it may be running too lean and I am on borrowed time with it.

I obviously don't hear any detonation, but that doesn't mean there might be... As well 110deg. summers are not far off!

From anyone that might be knowledgeable with this setup, what do you think my logical course of action should be?

I have a post in the classifieds to purchase a stock air box and MAF for the time being, or do you think I should get a chip?

I didn't really want to go that route for warranty stuff, but if need be, it seems like a waste to get rid of 37RWHP...!

Thanks for any help or advice on this!

if its not chipped it might be a lean code caused by the after market maf (atleast from what i read) i know that sometimes they can cause the motor to run lean. if indeed it is a lean code that might be what it is

Welp, it is what I feared, the drivers side bank is running too lean. ( Code 171 ) The Auto Zone guy reset it, and it has not come back on, but I know that is not a fix...

So I guess I wonder what to do next?

Is chipping the answer? I am almost afraid to drive it now?
