those things are overkill. a 5.4 supercharged engine
FLBigDog: I had a place off of Busch and N56th st. for a while...now Im out in new port richey for about another 5 monthes or so. Im out in the Tampa area a lot still since everyone I know still lives there. I will be moving back once Im done hording money for a new house.
You ever go to the Ronnie Setser shows?
Yeah, haha good ole Ronnie, he just started back up again, they shut down for a while doing those shows, seemed to get a bit rowdy a few weeks ago with fights and stuff (alcohol abuse) so they stopped doing them, fianlly started up again, went to one last weekend for a couple minutes.

check again, im not sure what a thunderbolt is but that picture is of the svt lightning bolt ranger http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/stor...olt/page1.html
And yeah it packs the same 5.4 engine and tranny as the L with some slight mods (non performace, just to get it in there) this was never production far as i know.

theres a guy at my school with an expedition that has lightning badges all over and the chrome replica 20s. Im cool with the guy, we talk about cars and stuff. but his expy just looks ridiculous with those badges.
This is no *****, happened to me last night when I got home from work. My neighbor saw me driving up and asked me about my truck (how much, do I like it, blah...blah). Anyway he tells me about a guy he works with who has a "Lightning" and how it's cool and all but not really that impressive performance wise. He then asks to see under the hood (one of my favorite things to do), so I lift the hood for him and he responds with "what's that?". Well he was pointing to the SC. When I told him what it was, he responds with "well my buddy didn't get one of those with his "lightning"". I then told him about interior (seats and insturments) and exterior differences, plus the fact that you can't get a lighting without a sc, and that his buddy probably doen't have a lightning.
The rest you can probably figure out for yourself. I saw him when he was coming home today and I asked him about his buddy's truck, and his replies "nope, definitely not a lightning". Turns out to be a 98 4.2 5 spd.
I'm trying to get my neighbor to have his buddy come over this weekend so he can see what a real Lightning is all about. I doubt he'll want to show his face around here.
I do want to say this, I don't mind if someone wants to put the wheels from an L on their truck. But to put badges on it and then tell everyone it really is a Lightning, it makes people believe that the L is just a re-badged F-150.

One time I was at Lebanon Valley Raceway in NY..........I was waiting in line to get in(in the Lightning) and I see a red 80's ranger pull up next to me. I glance over and see SVT badges. I just scratch my head and said out loud to myself "Hmmmmmmm they didn't make SVT rangers that is one lucky guy to have 1 of 1 ever made" and then I shook my head no. He wouldn't look at me the rest of the time in line. I am just not a fan of the whole put a badge on and I am an SVT product thing here. -Mat-
ive said this many times. Theres nothing wrong with customing your truck however you like it. You wanna take a f150 and slap harley lights on it lower it put a lighting bumper new engine whatever do what you will. In fact, i think its great and that more people should do it. Your car is your own but you cant really buy a custom car but its an expression of yourself. You wanna change it go for it. But puting names where they dont belong i think is total crap. Don't do it. If i see a f150 with a nice custom job ill think its cool and would commend the guy/gal for doing a good job. But if i see Tags on the truck that dont belong there, it doesnt matter what they did, ill yell poser. My buddy saw a f150 xtra cab once with an svt tag on it. He had a cobra at the time, he ripped the tag of attached a note to it and put in on the guys windshield. The note said "you missplaced this"
Well said whitestx. I feal the same way it's not so much the wheels or the ground effects people put on a reg. F-150 to dress it up a little its when they through on the badges and try to pass it off as the real thing. Well I guess there will always be possers.

Maybe thats true but I dislike those ppl who do it thinking they're as good as you in your real SVT product. Also I dislike the image those fake posers give to others who see SVT on it and think all svt's are like that.
It is anoying and all but I try to take it as more of a joke than anything. The only people that matter to me are the ones who know the differences already, they dont usually confuse fakes with the real deal anyhow. Plus you have to admit it is somewhat flattering that they try to make their truck as much like your's as they can.
grinomyte : that ranger in the link is a one of a kind. That one does have the 5.4...even has real Lightning wheels. The thunderbolt is very similar looking but not as trick as that one is.
