Well was the starting problem fuel injectors? does cleaner really work? chk inside.

well you all know about my starting problem, and some of you thought it could be bad or dirty fuel injectors, so i went out and bought some STP fuel injector cleaner (i bought some of this awhile ago for the cobra and i thought it helped a bit, so i was wondering what it would do with this)

so i put it in about 20 gallons of gas. and i drove it a day, didn't notice anything really, but then the next day the truck started right up, and when i was driving it, it felt like it had a little more power to it, like when i hit the gas i could feel it delivering more gas then it has been. and it has started everyday since then (3 days) and ran fine.

if you think about it, i got from 13.5 MPG, to 10.5MPG in a short amount of time this winter, i didn't think it would be that drastic of a change w/ the winter gas. so i thought nothing of it until the truck wouldn't start.....

so i wont know for another 1/2 tank if the MPG have changed, but i have 1/2 tank left, and i filled up last wednesday, and usually i have like 1/4 tank by now. so i think everything is alot better.

STP injector cleaner= i have noticed, more performance, better MPG, and the Truck is Starting like a champ now.... so do you think that was the problem?

even on the most dirty fuel injectors, the truck should at least try to start, (e.g. start then die, stumble, fire atleast), but not just crank with no sign of fireing..

if it was a fuel injector problem they would have to be not opening at all, (e.g. the connector pulled)

sorry to be a downer..

well it was worth a try.

i've had a couple people tell me about a couple connections to check, so next time it doesn't start, i'll check it out.
