Oh my...
From what I've read, the specs are to compete against the M5.
I'm sure it won't have that refinement, however, for a first year attempt and considering what Cadillac has been in the past, I think it's great. Doing this kind of stuff can only be good for American car manufacturers.
Personally, I like the looks of the CTS. Next year the Seville (which will be known as the STS) is going to have that new hard edge styling, as well as go to rear wheel drive. The next deVille (which will be known only as the DTS) will also go to the type of style. (rear or front wheel drive on the deville hasn't been decided yet) I can't wait to see what this style will look like on a big luxo sedan. I think it will be nice.
I would love to see America get its act together and be able to compete with Euro and Japanese lux sedans. If they can pull it off, everyone wins.

By the way BigDeal.....
"...as for staying clear of it if you come upon it in traffic, I always stay away from Cadillac products so as not to get hit by the parts that eventually fall off of them."
This made me laugh.

And I agree with you...I can't really believe Cadillac can pull it off, not unless GM gives them the autonomy to be able to do it. Cadillac claims they are being given that autonomy but I can't see GM really doing that.

My dad's original intention was to buy a 540i, but they wanted 12k more, for what was pretty much just an engine upgrade!
I've driven it quite a bit, and the handling, predictability and balance the car has is amazing. An M5 is exactly that, but just more/better. I've been in two of them, and each time I came out immensely impressed.
The little 225hp six banger has a ton of pull too, and the interior is much nicer than any ford, except maybe the thunderbird.
But then again, the L was 29k, this one was 55
Here's a real M5 to compare:
And this is what I would call an HP orgy

Edit: His seems to be the same color as my dad's, oriental blue metallic
