Hi all, I got this ticking noise at startup , it lasts till its warmed up. I can't track it down but sounds like it comes from the right head.
can anyone shed some light on my ttttick. Thanks, Scott

 

Sounds like a stuck lifter?

 

Umm lightnings dont have lifters =)(least gen 2's)

ALot of people with similar problems have had the 'fingers' or followers replaced and it solves it. The fingers being the part between the cams and valves.

PS have you checked all your plugs, and also ensured its not an exhaust leak? Exhaust leaks sounds DAMN close to ticking...

It may be the oil-tensioner for the timing chains. When cold(especially if you're not using a synthetic, 5w20 oil), it takes a little time to fill up and expand the chain(s).
