Street Scenes Grill Questions

Ok, since it appears you L owners have installed a lot of these grills, I thought I'd ask a couple questions before I order one for my truck. I've read a number of old threads where L owners have described a love/hate relationship with this grill (love the look, hate the install). I'm soliciting your comments, pro or con. What's the best look, satin or chrome? Also, if you'd recommend it for my truck, share some install suggestions for getting it into the truck with the least headaches.
Fire away........

Chrome on silver truck

They haven't changed anything recently, so search for install directions and you're all set.

I love mine and I think it looks great (especially with the JDM heat exchanger behind the lower), but yes the install and fit are a pain.

i HATE the chrome grilles. IMO the satin looks much better. the chrome just looks cheap. wasnt too bad of an install. 1st thing you should do, is throw away all the metal clips they give you fror the install. use wire ties instead. also, be sure to cut out your old upper grille. it looks much better.

my $.02...chris

So let me re-cap and hopefully I've got it straight. Pitch the clips that come with the grill. Cut out the center of the stock grill leaving only the outer band or ring (that snaps back into the grill surround). Use zip ties to mount the new grill insert to the old surgically modified grill shell. Does the Street Scenes grill fit fairly well into the old modified grill shell or do I have to do some coaxing (i.e. bending)? Do I just drill holes all the way around the old modified grill shell to run the wire ties through? How many zip ties are enough to get it mounted securely?

I know I'm really overkilling this issue, but I've pulled the grill and surround before, and given the amount of work required, I don't want to have to do this more than once.

You have to cut out the old grille to put those on?!...or at least make them look better? Do they go on over the stock ones? Why would you put a nice, new grille over the stock ones...you would be able to see them behind it...that would suck..dude...my advice is to pull the stock grills off..the top one is easy...just unscrew all the screws from the grille surround & then once its off, the grille will pull right off of the tabs. I dont know anything about the street scenes...but I guess if you dont have to take the grille surround and bumper off like you do for the Trenz...it seems like it would be easier...maybe not...but I seriously would rethink just slapping a mesh grille over the stock one. That would be like screwing those fake chrome discs over your drum brakes on your Honda to make it look like discs all around...leave that crap for the ricers.

you cant take off the entire upper grille. the ss grille fits inside the stocker. if you remove the entire upper grill, there will be a gap around the new grille...chris

Hey Bigdeal, i live in orlando now and have the grille. If you want to comeby and look at mine or need some help let me know.

I didnt like the way it looked with the stock grille behind it so i took it off and bent the edges outward. Looks good, and am happy with it.

Hey Fast Gator, do you have the satin or chrome grills? Couldn't tell for sure from your sig pic. Your grills look exactly how I what mine to eventually look. Did you have many problems getting them into your truck? If so, what were they?

I like the chrome SS grills (but I’m partial to chrome on white)… I also think the added chrome makes them a bit stronger…

Its a TRENZ..the bolt was seperate, from billett & acrylic in FL. The bolt has a screw on each end, they stick through the back of the grille and you just reach in and tighten the nut on each screw....holds & fits perfect...worth the time...but when your doing it you will be like..."This is SOOO not worth it"..
