My 4:10 install is gonna cost me $250. A 4X4 gears shop is doing the install.
It's all they do, nothing else.

Now THAT is interesting. I believe that my gears from Strange are US GEAR as well. I think they are part of or owned by Strange Engineering or vice versa. I'm pretty sure that US gear is what strange sells though.

maybe it's a characteristic of their gears or the cut of the gear or something.

again, my pattern was perfect, and all adjusments were right on the money.

just a noisey gear.

later,
chris

my mustang had bad resonation/vibration at about 75-80mph, try taking the driveshaft and turning it 180 degrees and then bolting it back up. the mechanic may have just put the driveshaft back on different from stock, as superfords stated.

noise

stormyday
you may have a "square cut" ring and pinion set, I have installed many Richmond sets that are "square cut" for durability and they do make noise. I am not sure about your US gears but just a thought. You may get more info from Randys Ring and Pinion.com.He has always been very helpful to me.

Other than the noise how do you like the 4.10's so far?

Thanks everybody for your suggestions, my mechanic is going to pull the cover Tuesday and see if there is any unusual wear, if he can't adjust the noise out he has a set of motorsport gears to put in.

I really haven't gotten on it too much yet because I haven't had the computer recalibrated yet and didn't want to possibly hurt anything but I can tell that there is so much more torque feel there. I can't wait to really give it the test.
I went from the 3.55's so there is quite a difference. I do have 20's so I think I am actually running about 3.90 or so.
It doesn't seem to add to the rpm much at all in daily driving.
I think I will love them once I get rid of this sound that is like a jet coming in for a landing.
It is quite strange, it is there on accel and decel but when you are just going along at about 45 or 50 with the gas just enough to keep it going the noise stops. Normally that is when you get the gear whine but this is just the opposite.

Can you tell me how to get ahold of Randys ring and pinion.
Thank
Chris
