I don't know him too well. We met a couple of months ago when Mike (mrinaldi) and I went to Atco. I can't get in touch with him other than on here. He lives somehere over by RJ's though. I have been friends with Mike for over 10 years though since I used to kick his arsh on RT 27 when he had his Mustang.

problem is you are never going to get a true a/f reading from the tailpipe,

if you plan on making good power, your playing with fire[QUOTE]

I know. I would like to do a test one day to compare direct a/f and tailpipe a/f at the same dyno on the same day and see what happens. If I have to then I will remove the driver O2 sensor. The dyno I go to doesn't have the capability to do direct A/f yet.

Beefcake , can you explain what you mean by playing with fire ? I am thinking of getting long tubes soon and would like to know everything I can before purchasing them.

Good info guys. Justin is sending me the hardware in question. Simple mistake.

Beefcake- Does the measurement from the tailpipe tend to be leaner or richer than the more accurate wideband measurement upstream. Has anyone here ever tested both at the same time. I may be wrong, but would guess that the tailpipe measurement would tend to be leaner due to the exhaust having already passed through the cats and the distance from the engine. This would cause one to have an inperfect tune, true; but, one that errs to the side of caution instead of danger. I could be wrong I guess.

Nope I'm right with you on that definition - and will take it a step further - it's not just the headers but every Fuvking thing related to these trucks is a$$jacker high - never seen anything like it only thing that comes close is Vette parts ... I can only assume it has to do with the vehicle being a limited production unit ...

I believe what he was refering to is that if you are going to tune your truck don't use a tail pipe sniffer for A/F readings because it is less accurate then wideband O2 sensors.

What most tuners do is to remove one of the O2 sensors and put in a wideband O2 sensor hooked up to an A/F meter. They then tune to that, with only one O2 sensor in place. If you have an extra bung welded into your exhaust then they can tune with both O2's sensors going, which will be even more accurate for the whole tuning session.
