I would think that they could tell from the manufacture date which head was updated.

This is ridiculous...I mean come on a ****en sparkplug is ruining everybody's ****.

also, new head, labor and gaskets is more like $2K+ I think the head alone lists for nearly $1200 depending on the dealer. in any event, they should replace the head for you.

I have the service manual and yes it does say not to use a repair such as a heli-coil. However the service manual is not real life. I don't know who knows more about our trucks sometimes monkeys or Ford techs.

Here is a quote from BlackCobra99Va on 01-31-2003,

"Blew # 3 plug on my Stock 01 Lightning

31K miles on it...

Dealer had it helicoiled , even though I told them I wanted a new head...Have put about 500 miles on it since, and no problems, yet, knock on wood... "

I guess prices have went up. The invoice from Oct 2001 when my spark plug blew out showed the cost to be $1171.31 which included new parts and labor.
