Question What about these for front tires

I have been doing some research on front tires for drag racing.

I know a lot of you use 26 inch tall tires and haven't had any problems.

The problem I am having is I am looking for a front tire that I can drive to NJ, Virginia, Ohio, and maybee Florida, then race and drive home.

Our stock tires have a load rating of just over 2000 lbs, and the highest load rating on the 26" tall tires are 1600 LBS, and the highest speed rating is a H.

Here is what I am thinking of running
Goodyear Wrangler F1 255/55VR-16
they have a load rating of 1929 LBS and are speed rated over 130mph, and are 27" tall. I know this will be a compromise as far as racing goes, and the main weight savings will be in the rims not the tires.

Let me know what you think about this idea, if you have any other sugestions let me know. I am open to any other alternatives, and still have a month to make a decision.

If you bracket race, the different tire diameter will affect your reaction time. You may need to change your staging procedure.

How about this.

235/55/16 VR $194 each from tire rack. Or you could get a couple from a Bently.
The taller tire should give better weight transfer and it is 1" more narrow. Plus it is rated to 149 for the fast trips to the strip.

Don't you want something skinnier then that>??? I also will probably be shopping for some tires come race time. I just bought 4 16x7 Ford rims with 235-70-16 Blizzaks on em. Maybe I can run those up front>??? I would think that would be a heavy *** setup though and funny looking. I will have to wait until they get here. They are also very tall. I think around 29" WoW. -Mat-

Oh yeah I also had my tire guy looking up some tires for me. I will check with him and post up in a few days what he found.

Don,

Those are a nice tire, They make that tire in a 285/35/22 as well. It will be my next tire for my 22's. I run a 28in tall Pirelli on the front racing rims because I wanted the match look all the way around. It doesnt have the Real Skinny look but they do well on road trips and my truck looks even. I basically used the spare tire size for now and it works ok....
