How do you get scratches out of a windshield?

I came out of a restaurant to find my truck covered in *****. Have no idea what it was, tree sap maybe, it was real dark though, kinda looked like somebody splattered coke on it but it wasn't sticky. Anyway I couldn't see too good out of the windshield so I went to a gas station to use the squeegee to clean it off. It was real hard to get off, took a lot of scrubbing. When i got back on the road I noticed scratches all over the windshield. Some are pretty deep too. It honestly looks like somebody took sandpaper to it. My stomach just dropped. I guess there was sand or something in the squeege. Is there anyway to polish or buff these out? Is it easy to do or can I take it somewhere and have them do it?

yeah

use number 7 rubbing compound on a gererously wet rag and a lot of elbow grease. Throw a towel over any area where this may get on the paint or anythign you don't want to clean up.

if nothing else works.. just slap some 50% tint inside the windsheild...

50% is very very light, but it maybe enough to hide the small scratches..

dunno.
