OH, REALLY???? So I need to be careful when changing my plugs?
The heads are the same?? So I could stick a roots supercharger on my 4.6L and get close to the same power as the lightning???
I would think the lightning head would be much larger ported.

Just curious how the 4.6L has so much power difference than the 5.4L other than cubic inches. What is the diff? Cam?Intake? Computer program???

Let me know, I am interested what would make such a large difference.
Thanks
Jason

I am pretty sure the 4.6's have the same crappy head design as the Lightnings and face the same problem.

Has anyone ever launched a plug thru the hood>??? Is it possible>??? If so post some pics! -Mat-

Don't be too hard on yourself Dan, it was only natural to think you had an exhaust leak when you heard a ticking and you have aftermarket exhaust.
Thx, I've been beating myself up for it because I'm such a harper on preventive maintenance, heh.

Dan, did you get the truck in the shop yet? And if so, what dealership did you take it to? Didn't you use Downs for the intercooler recall?

Whew, thats alot of questions

I used Wayne Ford for the intercooler recall, and they treated the truck well, just took a bit longer then their "estimate". So speed was not their upshot.

These days, I have a brother-pair who I know that work at a Jaguar dealership. They can do like 80% of the repairs on the truck (some stuff needs to go to a truck/SVT shop sometimes, like the door crack). They told me they'd do the headswap for it...They've already done a few Navigators it seams (they sell Lincolns too)

lol, if I knew of a cam grind that would be suitible for street/road track, I'd look into it. The strip grinds are not to my advantage.

Ok guys, I'm so mechanically handicapped

you could use your feet better than I could my hands. Thank God I can make a living with my head! I've only have 10k on my 2kL with no motor mods. I've been reading about spitting plugs just cruising, but no indication if any hard running prior? I think I need the plugs checked the next time I have service, but inclined to think that dealer messing with them could cause a prob where none exists now? Any advice? Thanks!

Jake,

I run my truck very hard, and try to take good care of it. There was plenty of indication that something was wrong, it wasn't just everything was peachy and then the plug went shooting.

I had a very distinct (and loud) exhaust leak sound prior to the plug launch. The thing to "personally note" is that as soon as you hear an exhaust-leak-ish sound, get ALL the plugs checked, regardless.

Thanks Pawn for replying

I made a mental note of your suggestion. At least my head works--even if the hands don't!
