Maybe it is time to increase Alaska output?

There is plenty of oil in Alaska. If we had drilled for it when they originally wanted to in ANWAR it would be online now. Every arguement the Lefties use against drilling is bogus. The area in ANWAR where the drilling would take place is neither pristine, nor beautiful. The technology is available for safe and unobtrusive Arctic drilling and has been for some time. If we go now it will be available the next time a crisis looms, and will do much for our countries economy in the way of jobs and balance of payments.

Contact your Congressman,

Mark

Ah yes, I've found it contradictory when people dont want to explore for Oil in Alaska, but try to get the US people to be less dependent on forign oil and for us to produce more oil.

That, and I know the real reason, bet you cant wait till the year end, hehe, and the amount keeps rising.

Here in Oklahoma, we are kinda in the middle of our own oil area. Have a lot of large company's, Halliburton, etc. In fact, we planted a few oil well seeds and they are just about full grown and ready to produce.

They are saying that in 30 more yrs or so oil in Irac and Kuwait wells will be dry, so we should hang on to our oil here in the USA save Alaska for the very end to drill.

Run out? I Doubt it

Prudhoe Bay was supposed to have run out 15 years ago, and there is no end in sight to the oil they are pumping out of there.
New technology keeps increasing the life of the field. With ANWR opened up we could really put a dent in imported oil, and still have plenty of reserves up there. Its time to stop selling out our future to the doom and gloom politics of the democratic party. Sen. Diane "two faced" Feinstein of Calif. is a good example. She is screaming about SUV's and the need for better gas mileage. What does she drive in, a big ole SUV and a Lincoln Town Car. What a piece of crap she is.

Take a couple of pictures for posterity and start drilling now in AK. Feinstein is like all the rest, what is good enough for you has nothing to do with what she needs. I lived in southern CA in '99 @ '00. They were doing work on the 405 freeway on saturdays. Total traffic jam. After the 2nd saturday, they went back to working at night. In the Orange County Register, they said they had to change the schedule because someone important got caught in traffic. It didn't matter that millions of tax payers were backed up, the change occurred because "someone important" was delayed.

unless prices get out of hand, i would prefer we save our own oil until we *really* need it. otherwise i think it's in our best interest to rely on foreign oil....jmo.

I would have to agree... Some of the resources from that state appear to be rare and valuable...

I have a really good friend that has a machine shop that is about to go broke. They do mostly oil field type machining and there is NO activity right now at all. In years past when prices got this high they were covered up with work. Something stinks

He said the Alaska field that was just voted down for drilling was only a 16 square mile area out of thousands of square miles of "protected land". These tree huggers rule the world, and outside of Ca. Austin has the most tree huggers in the world!

We should drill now in AK, TX, OK and anywhere else there is oil if for no other reason than to build up our reserves just in case. Am I the only one thinking that if we go to war w/o the consent of the United Nations that the other Middle Eastern countries may get upset and cut off our oil supplies? We need to be prepared and start drilling now in the US and buy more oil to increase the reserves. Our leaders never think ahead, other than to win re-election.

Well, before everyone decides that we need to drill for more oil in Alaska, has anyone asked the question of where all the oil currently being pumped in Alaska is going? During the oil shortage back in the 70's, we were told that the Alaska oil pipeline would end our dependence on foreign oil. Some time after the pipeline was put into operation, it was reported most of the oil was being sent to Japan. Hmmmm. Possible political manuvering by misleading the public you say? And, hey, I've heard that there are lots of oil wells in Texas and Oklahoma that aren't even being pumped! Reason? The owners want more money per barrel than the oil companies are willing to pay, so the oil companies buy the cheap foreign stuff.... I think we should continue to buy all the foreign oil we can. Just MHO.

In 1867, Secretary of State William H. Seward purchases Alaska from Russia for United States for 7.2 million dollars.
What a DEAL! That's still only around $83,671,984.69 today!

Don't be confused. There are very few "good" corporate citizens in this country. They/it will buy from where ever to produce in where ever to ship in what ever to sell at what ever volume in any local that might make an extra 1/10 of a cent over what they did yesterday. And they get away with it because money drives politics. You and I are SCREWED. Want to talk about putting Americans to work and ending our dependence on foriegn energy? ETHANOL (although not known as a daily driver performance fuel) production. And for those that desire reliable go fast transportation, there is some blue blooded AMERICAN that can design the parts to do it. Its called the AMERICAN WAY and AMERICAN INGENUITY. Just my 0.02. They should let the hump jockeys drown in it. Even our beloved FoMoCo needs a dose of PATRIOTISM. I read the other day where if you wanted to put a "MADE IN AMERICA" stamp on an auto today it could just as easily go on a Toyota..........A FREAKIN toyato.

LORD did I just say all that......big brother might be watching......wheres my medication.

I think the save our oil for the future arguement is flawed. If we wait 40 or 50 years to exploit it, alterative fuels will be well established and we probably won't even need it. All the while we put big bucks into the governments of the middle east.

Drill Alaska NOW. Help Russia establish their fields and build a pipeline to their east coast.
