cobra for a downed Lightning

Was dropping my 01 L off yesterday for the head replacement for a blown plug. I tried to get the new "fixed head" but it seems they are not using them for the warrantee replacements. THey now reccommend torqueing down and backing off each plug three times for proper seating. Im having them replace all the plugs that way while its there. They wouldn't put in my densos , by the way. They are replacing with newly designed gaskets( on the new side only though.) Also replacing the fogs N/C.
Anyway, while I was there I noticed this 03 Black Cobra vert. Strolled over to take a look and was surprised it was not sold. Took it for a ride. The salesman asked me what I thought. I told him that I have had two Cobras in the past and that this one was definately faster but still had the same squeeky body/chassis.
He said they are looking for good used Lightnings and said he would give me $30,000 for my used L. Now the cobra was marked up $5000 over sticker, but that still translates to 25K for the L. I told him I never pay over sticker for my cars and he is now at 30 for the L and 2500 over sticker for the snake. Interesting. And interesting that I didn"t jump at It yet.
Just thought I would pass on my experience with yall.

That sounds like a deal to me. I don't know how many miles you have on your truck, but even taking $8K off the price of the cobra they are giving you $22K for your Lightning which probably needs tires, and has a little spark plug problem.

yeah but

the cobra really does feel chintsy compared to the L. There is definately way too much motor for the chassis. I have had two befor and even sub frame connectors wouldn't stop the flexing aand squeaking. On the otherhand, I do miss shifting, and live in a place where the roof can be down all year. Tough decision. I really do love my L, but am pretty pissed about the half *** solutions to the problems. The L is definately much more fun with mods, but I dont feel like dealing with the mods on/mods off PIA every time something goes wrong. I guess I will lose some sleep tonight.

I guess I should be saying sorry to hear the bad news ZZAPP, but it sounds like this could turn into good news after all.
Tough decision I know, Sold a Laser Red Cobra Convert to get the Lightning. I miss the Convert big time and so does my son, but it was a pain in the *** to climb in and out of anyway.
Of course now they have Superchargers so that changes everything. But then again, how do you get that torque to hook on the street ? A lightning is multi flexible and works well so I guess it comes down to your needs

Im still about 90% sure Im staying with the L. But it almost seemed like fate. I have been hearing about low ball offers for traded L's on the board, so I was quite surprised.

If you got him to 30grand on the L and msrp on the cobra you have a real good deal on your hands.

Not too likely tho. They wouldn't make anything and actually probly lose some on the L. Im not sure why he has even come this far. Cobras don't sit around long. In fact a friend of mine has been waiting 3 mos for his at another dealer who sells them at sticker.
Ive had 4 stangs and 2 cobras in the past. They really are not screwed together that well, (imo)and the interiors are really kinda cheap, but I must say I modded the heck out of some of them and nothing major ever broke.
