Gauges are finally In.....
Gauges are finally In.....
I finally got to put in my Lunars yesterday .
I want to thank those for the install info it was a great help.
I will say the lunars are nice but do flicker at lower setting on dimmer. I also found out the boost gauge is very sensetive to dirt in the orfice would not work only a spec of diry in there from shipping.
I like the fuel pressure gauge but don't like not haveing the shrader there I am gonna make a tee with some fittings someday. I don't know if this is normal for an electric guage but it really moves (jumps from like 35-50 ) when you nail it not a sweeping motion it is instant is this normal??? I also did not have to cut the harness to install I took the boost gromet out and just made a slice in it and ran the line that way and covered it with the sheathing supplied with gauges
I also did trans temp what is the norm for temp on this it was cold here yesterday (NJ) I drove for like 10 miles only got up too 130-140 if that. I tapped in where everyone said to drivers side just above pan little black plug I removed and put sender right in threads were also a tight fit on that location
I took about 3 hrs complete I would say the lotek pod is an ok fit it will either have a gap at headliner or base by dash it is your choice were to postion before you drill.
I grounder to the old grab handle bolts no problem. I ran the power fuse box and the lighting from a extra connector in the headlight swith area I forgot the color of the wire but the blue with red tracer is correct but not tooo much room to work that way.
Sorry for the long post if anyone has any ?'s or needs help on a install ask away this is not as easy as some say.
I also did fuel filter and Psp drive shaft loop easy mod yet took less than 3 min with air tools nice product too

Hey Slick
I am thinking about adding gauges to my 2003 because I hate the look of that grab handle. Any info on where I can get products for this or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Is the pod you used the only one available? Not crazy about leaving a gap at the top or the bottom.
Thanks
Eric

Drilling the pan is reccomended because the sensor would always be in the fluid...I didnt have the pan drilled. So dont feel bad.
I get the "flicker" about half turned down too..But so far...I cant stand to have them turned down...I like my Jet Plane Look of Lunar gauges!! HA HA
THANKS
Thanks Guys/Gals for the info I figured it was ok.
Eric I used the low tek pod it is a good fit don't get me wrong. You can barely notice the gap all the way at the bottom of dash at base of windsheild, plus it is so cold out I didnt want to push the plastic to hard in the warm weather I will play more.
I got the pod from WWW.Rkkustoms.com it came pre painted pretty close the autometer pod you have to paint I dont know how that fits ask others also the gauges fit nice a snug in the pod no moving around.
Good luck

Slick, I know this is not the exact same vehicle, but it is a similar tranny.
I have a 92 Full size Bronco with the 351W, and an E4OD tranny.
I have an autometer tranny temp gauge that I put in about a year ago.
I too used the small threaded fitting in the drivers side of the tranny, (the fitting fit perfectly) to tap into.
My guage reads about 120-130 degrees, especially now in the winter.
Although, even towing a trailer in 90 degree weather, it only got up to 175, and that was in Phoenix in March!
Of course my tranny was just hand rebuilt about a year and a half ago, but I too think it takes a while to get up to a normal registering temp.
Hope that puts you a little more at ease?
