Throtle Shaft

I was finishing up my throtle body last night and got to thinking why were the throtle plates between the 2 pieces of the shaft
? Would it sacrifice durability to cut one of these shafts off. I know it would be a good increase in air flow by taking on of them out? Anyone done this before that can shed some light on this topic.

Cool

HI!... I did this on my stock 70MM TB after I ported/polished it. No durability problems. Just make sure you chamfer where you cut it or you will eventually get a crack. I've had mine down to only the one half shaft now for about 2 years. No problems.

I would be very careful about removing 1/2 of that shaft. The amount of vacuum those throttle blades see the split second you snap the throttle shut at WOT, is very high (22" HG or more). The blower is pulling on those plates pretty hard.

That's a lot of vacuum over that large surface area.
