Unhappy Dealer trying to rob me?

I had a small encounter with a mound of snow and ice. When I hit the ice with my right front, the bracket holding on the fog light broke. The fog light itself is fine. The dealers says that the only way to get a new bracket is to order a complete fog light and that costs $200! This seems very high to me, can anyone check out dealers cost on this item?

Right fog light and bracket for a 2002 HD? Thanks guys.

is the bracket plastic or metal?
If its metal, Iam sure a small machine shop could weld it up for a couple bucks, but somehow I figure its plastic

Yep, it is plastic.

I guess I could try using some metal L brackets to attach it back on. There is enough plast left at the top to drill into and fasten the L bracket.

That price does seem high, but most dealers work off a list price for over the counter sales. I know the fog light assembly for my Navigator was $55.00 list and I looked on fordpartsonline and they had the stock F150 fog light assembly for a 2001 listed for about $100.00. Check around at a couple other dealers, but it may very well be that much for the Harley. Must be that special lens they use for those fog lights.

Try Beuckman Ford in Ellisville. 636-227-5700. I have delt with them before and they are pretty cool.
