Wearing a seat belt should be my choice. I don't need the government to tell me what is best for me. This country was founded on freedom of choice. It doesn't hurt anyone else if I choose not to wear a seat belt. I understand the risk. My insurance did not go down when the seat belt law was passed. Riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than driving w/o a seat belt, should there be a law against street bikes? Smoking isn't good for you, should it be banned because of the insurance cost? Drinking alcohol isn't healthy, do we want go back to Prohibition? If I am not hurting other Americans I should have the right to pursue happiness my own way.

I'm glad that you get a high from not wearing your seatbelt.

I'll admit that I should wear it more often but I always forget. I only remember when I'm with someone who yells at me for not wearing it and she's not around anymore to much, so......

This guy should never buy a lottery ticket, because his luck is spent.

Well I work in a doctors office where we see people for work comp injuries & auto accidents. I was talking w/one of the doctor's one day & she said was that she wears her seatbelt not to prevent herself from dieing in an accident but to prevent herself from an injury that would leave her like a vegatable. That made a lot of sense to me so now I ALWAYS wear my belt (law or not).

To get this back on track.....

Last nights national news had photos of the kid hanging on the wire while the firemen where raising the laddertruck.

He was up there, news said 25 ft
The news even said that he called his dad on his cell phone while "hanging around"

When he got down, he should have gone straight to a lottery machine and purchaseed some tickets

Has anyone considered the risk he created for the rescue services because this dipstick didn't wear a seatbelt? aerial ladder trucks +high voltage lines + humans is not a great combo.

Thumbs up

I have a seatbelt on my toilet seat and use it religiously because you just never know what is going to happen.

I'm probably the only one interested in bathroom safety at this time but, it will be the wave of the future.

I expect mandatory seatbelt use legislation in California within the next two years. The rest of the Country will follow shortly.

Being forced to wear the belt in the truck won't seem so intrusive then.

I suspect that you won't be fined for not being strapped to your toilet unless you have committed some other bathroom offense.

They had the power shut off before sending the ladder up. Not wearing your seat maybe should be your own decision......but if you don't wear it you are just dumb. There is no reason not to take 2 seconds out of your life to buckle up. Also why is it so hard for so many people to use a damn blinker>??? You would think it takes 50LBs of force to turn it on. That is one thing that bothers me. -Mat-

So no one offers an reasoning NOT to wear seatbelts other than "it should be my decision!"...
