How much boost w/ Denso IT22's?
I am currently running a #4 lower. If I can't hit my goal for this spring(12.6) the first few times out I am considering going to a #6 with a safer tune for street use. My other mods are in my sig. The 12.9 I ran last year was before I installed the traction bars and FT/VB. I just ordered a set of the denso IT 22's. I know they are a good choice for the #4 but is anyone running them with a 6 lber? Also whatgap are you guys using for a #4? I read one thread where one guy didn't even gap his Denso's
Thanks Paul |
I have seen more failures with Denso's than with NGK plugs
here is s recent pic of 2Cool's plugs https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=104790 https://www.f150online.com/galleries...1733-48698.jpg I know a lot of people like the Denso's, but they are never going into my truck. I would suggest the NGK TR6's. I run 18# of boost on mt truck with the NGK's with no problems |
Please don't take this the wrong way. I know every truck is different. If the Denso's are that bad then why would the fastest trucks on this board including Sal & JL run them in their trucks? Could it be that your tune is just better suited for the NGK"S
|
I've been running the IT-22's for the last 2500 miles without a problem. Had a 4# pulley on for about 1000 miles and ran 12.6's. I switched to a 6# pulley for 1500 miles and ran 12.3's. The IT-22's have been in my truck the whole time.
What state do you live in?? There is a Plainfield in every state. LOL:beers: Jason:banana: |
Struck,
I'm about 30 Miles South West of Chicago. I lived in the city my whole life up until about 2 yrs ago. I guess now that I am an old fart(35) the city life lost some of it's charm:D |
I have a 6# and am running IT24's, but will be switching to the IT22's this summer.
|
Loosebolt,
Would you mind saying why you are switching to the 22's? Are yo still leaving the 6# on? |
TheRipper did you say you live in plainfield, Illinois? A half hour south of chicago? thats where i live also is plainfield illinois if i read you right... 60544? anyway i have a 2000 Lightning and i also have a 4# lower and am running tr6's and havent had a problem yet, knock on wood, i'm checking them when i take it out of storage this spring and ill tell you the color, but i think the'll be just fine. Thanks, Shane

Yup, I'm right off of I55 & Weber Rd in the Lakewood Falls Subdivision. I usually go to RT 66 for the T&T on Tuesdays. Maybe we can hook up out there some time. If you see a guy with a 10 yr old as his pit crew that would be me.:p She loves going to the track. Yes guys I am talking about my daughter:) |
Paul, yeah im off 126th and 59 right downtown plainfield... ive been here forever... im only 18. i have a red 2000 trans am. Its in storage now, are you driving yours year round? I am thinking about it next year.... so far we just don’t get enough snow to garage that thing from November till March... Yeah id love to go up with ya this spring/summer to rt 66... I’ve been there millions of times... i wonder if i can drive there with my eyes closed... I used to have a 94 trans am i took up there a bunch of times... best 1/4 time of 14.8 can you believe that... then last summer i took my truck up there 13.8 bone stock... the first nice day this spring, I’m looken to take my truck back up there, but im looken to break into the 12's... It's weird to go from a 14.8 in my ta, to a 12.8 in my truck, man the difference! I have a 4# lower on my L, jdm's cat back exhaust, 2" lowering shackles, tr6 plugs witch I’ve been happy with, a Diablo chip burnt by Johnny Lightning and a pro m 80 mm mass air and cone filter intake set up for now... If anything i upgrade b4 I go to the track, its a factory tech valve body, otherwise that’s the set up i have, and I’m looken to break into the 12's with it on a good day, with a nice launch and a good 60 foot time.... gota run for now, im at work. If you have aol messenger, try me on there, I’m still under my trans am name, Shanezam203 i'd love to talk more with ya about the lovely city of Plainfield.... later, Shane

And i love it, and wouldnt trade it for a 2000 ta anyday. i didnt even know i wrote that.. but it goes to show it is still in my mind... thanks for the catch, Shane |
Paul and Shane,
Let me know when you guys want to go to RT66! We'll try to get a bunch of people from this area to bring their L's. I'm not too far away in Indiana. I went to RT66 4 or 5 times last year, but it gets too crazy towards the end on the night, dont you think??!!!?? Have you guys been to US41 in Morocco?? Not as good looking as RT66, but its VERY laid back and you can make a crap load of runs. Let me know either way. We can make a thread on the boards about meeting at the track one day soon. Paul, My daughter is only 2 weeks old, but when she's able, she' coming to the track with her father too. LOL:D Jason:banana: |
Struck,
There ya go. Get her started early. My daughter was only 3 when she heard her first top fuel car run the 1/4. She attends all the events with me, even Nascar. RT 66 does get crazy towards the end of the night. I usually try to leave work early(downtown) so I can be at the gates when they open at 4. Go straight to tech then put the ET ons and go. I can usually get 5 or 6 runs in before it gets crowded. I usally go with some friends but they are on bikes. They are usually running 9's. Thanks but I'll stick to 4 wheels and a bed in the back:rocker: |
